There are several here Sawah. Though I'm not a HUGE fan, here are my choices:
Song: "Liberian Girl" Album: "Dangerous" Era: I think "Dangerous" as well. His style doesn't change much in my opinion.

Sure, I like to moonwalk every once in a while to his amazing pop. But I think the worst thing he could've done with his music was to part from Quincy Jones. Instead he decided to work with these new hip producers. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Hehe, I think his style does change quite a bit. I mean he always keeps the fedora and the glove...I spose it's the looks more than anything that makes him look different though.

NWF I couldn't agree more. I mean look at Thriller- what a master piece. He just needs to get back on his feet and release these new songs!! And a new album! Grrr!

Chico, listen to They Don't Care About Us, hehe. A wicked song NWF, MJ is still on Sony as far as I know. He had a contract to release 7 albums I think (or something). I'm on MJNI. Hopefully he'll be bringing out a box set greatest hits..with ONE new song

CO-SIGN! I heard that Quincy was really hurt when Michael didnt ask him 2 produce Dangerous. It's a shame he messed with that dynamic. The gigs He did in 1988 were just awesome. But unfortunately he just got formulaic. I aint no hater, the very 1st piece of vinyl I ever bought was an MJ single back in '79. I just think its a shame the way he let his fame dictate his musical output. I think his mistake was resting on his laurels (ie his fame) and thinking that would see him through. But when the shit hit the fan, it just wasn't enough. I do however kinda hope he bounces back with something CREDIBLE. But I aint holding my breath. Off The Wall is still an amazing album, his best. Sans-sugery, THEN:
NOW?
Maybe the surgery was a good move after all Mikey! [This message was edited Sun Sep 14 13:58:29 PDT 2003 by bananacologne] *Thanx 2 Deja Edit* [This message was edited Sun Sep 14 13:59:12 PDT 2003 by bananacologne]

I like all the albums Mike did when he was Black, every last one of them, including when he was with his brothers...and only BAD and DANGEROUS when he decided to turn white. I have no patience for him now and I barely listen to any of his music nowadays, makes me feel nostalgic &

Yeah he had it back then.

I heard the song "Off The Wall" on the radio the other day,and I remembered what a great song it is.How come we never talk about this song? We always discuss "Don't Stop Til Til You Get Enough","Rock With You" and other songs from this album, but the title track deserves recognition as well. It's got an amazing chorus...
"So tonight We're gonna leave that 9 to 5 up on the shelf and just enjoy yourself Groove...let the madness in the music get to you life ain't so bad at all when you live it Off The Wall"

The best thing he ever did was ditch Quincy and write masterpieces like Who Is It, Morphine and Stranger In Moscow by himself.

I actually like his work without Quincy as well. The "I wish he would get back with Quincy" comments are kinda tired and old. He made three albums with the guy. That's plenty. If he'd have made all his albums with Q you'd get people saying "I wish he'd work with someone other than Q". Michael made great work with Q and great work without him. And I still think Invincible is a fine album.

Agreed. And most people tend to forget that, for the most part,Quincy has retired from making music. He doesn't even record albums of his OWN anymore. But having said that,I do wish that MJ would find better, more distinctive producers to work with.Or maybe just ONE,unknown producer to help him make a great album.Ever since MJ left Quincy,he just works with all the "trendy" R&B producers and it's getting kinda tired by now.

Fingers crossed. I don't agree that Michael's work all sounds the same (which is a regular critisism). Play them back to back and Dangerous sounds very little like Invincible but I'd like Michael to come up with a totally different kind of sound. Or maybe just something a little more organic.

Michael Jackson IS my all time favourite.
Marrk!! Heya Umm sowwie, where does it say no more Michael Jackson threads? And can I ask why not? This is a non-prince discussion thread thing afterall. But whatever, if that's the case, I'm sorry Milty Ahem anyway, I agree he did some absolutely BEAUTIFUL songs without Quincy. Dangerous is a master piece, HIStory is amazing, BOTDF is SO funky and cool, and Invincible is STILL brilliant, despite what most people think of it. And YES he's STILL black [This message was edited Mon Sep 15 8:17:23 PDT 2003 by sawah]

sawah said: Heya everybody
Ummm just wondering if there was any big MJ fans out there? And if there is, what's your favourite song/album/era? they are everywhere! hiding behind trees wearing pyjamas and showing the world where the world can shove up its beef with MJ. I dig every period of his. OTW is still untouchable to me, then comes dangerous close, thriller, bad, vince and history. until any reliable news concering any new material my MJ books are closed. koppelmann and branca seem like the right thing but for christmas there has to be something. he had at least two chances to get things started this year. after he went back to gary and... you bet, at the BET awards. He hitting the stage covering James Brown with the cape, doing the iam-not-worthy routine for James and both kicking ass big time to "let's make it funky" and MJ's "shake your body to the ground", james covering MJ with the cape again, the crowd going wilder than to any mtv prick and ratings up especially during re-broadcast, what does he need? Mike, this is a signal! if he is fine with jetting to las vegas in his pyjamas buying death golden egyptians more valuable than egypt itself i'm fine with it, too, but i'm not interested in it. OTW style '04 is something i would appreciate. JohnDoe
