and she tried to SUE them... Just taking ya'll back a bit since Im listening to this song and it's reminding me...
But remember when ROSA PARKS was suing the rap group OUTKAST for using her name as a title for one of their songs? I remember thinking, what was the big fuss about it? All I knew is that she didnt want them to capitalize off her name or something like that. I didnt keep up with it too much unfortunately. Your thoughts? &

I didn't keep up with it as intensely as some either, but the woman had a right to not want her named used if that's the way she wanted it. I was never impressed with the song, and I don't even remember how it goes to this day.
Regardless of the nature of the content, even if it was positive, it doesn't mean she doesn't have her own legitimate reasons for not wanting her name attached to it. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Does it help what? Does it change my mind? No. But I now have a theory as to why she wouldn't want her name attached to it. This post not for the wimp contingent. I thought you meant would it help change my mind about her having the right to control what he name was attached to. To me the song wasn't really memorable, which is why I don't remember much of it. My theory is some child, or grandchild of hers brought up the idea. I mean, hell, the woman was OLD when she became a celebrity.
And, therefore, when you become a celebrity, you forfeit certain rights, like privacy. and no, I'm not saying she shoulda kept quiet and this wouldn't happen, I'm saying, she can't trademark her name and go suing folks that use her name... maybe, Big Boi has a poodle named Rosa Parks? Maybe Dre has a wig named Rosa Parks. It COULD happen. Ya never know. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Rosa Parks did not want to be named in a song in which the word 'nigga' was used. That's the story, period.
PS: yes, she had the right!
