So,what's the deal with Lauryn Hill?

How's her new CD coming along? Has anyone heard any news? Or,is she planning to quietly retire from the music biz?

I wish I could answer this question as I'm very curious too. I love Lauryn and she has great talent, but I heard she's hooked up with some religious guru and of course, he's slowing ruining her career for her. Perhaps she doesn't care for a career in music anymore, but I highly doubt that. I hope she releases a new cd soon - something along the lines of "the miseducation of...". I also heard that she is no longer with Rohan (sic) because he did not approve of the guru she's been hanging with. Poor Lauryn, just another one who's been lead astray.

Yeah,it's really sad to see.Hopefully, she will get her life together and make a great album again.'Miseducation' is one of the most powerful albums of the 90s,imo.She has so much potential and I would hate for her career to end prematurely.

I heard that she was pissed about the fact that more white people bought 'Miseducation...' than black people... silly! Be keen on what you want, cherish what you have!

Thats bullshit, honey! its a rumor from 96 that says "She rather see her kid die starving than 2 see a white kid buy one of her records" which is very abured and ignorant(4 L-Boogie 2 say).

Here's a quote from here regarding this {bullshit}:

"Some kid had heard that I didn’t want white people to buy my records. And that really, really hurt me a great deal because I really think my music is universal. And I’d been everywhere and I had fans everywhere. But because of some rumor that some radio personality chose to say on his radio show, something they’d never seen ot never heard themselves, just a rumor. There were a lot of people that I thought we had related and all of a sudden they felt they couldn’t relate at all. And I found that people tried to misconstrue the things that I’d said and make them sound like I had some sort of racist thoughts. And they were very hurtful comments to me, because I’m a very universal person and I think it’s our diffrences that makes us dope."

Hope that breaks that doubts for good this time!

Why in the world would people believe any artist said something like this? any artist who doesn't want a race to
purchase their product would be a FOOl!

lauryn is not a fool. from the interviews i read with her, she's a smart, highly conscious person. who wouldn't
say something that ignorant.

people gotta use their common sense about stuff!

Dave baby lol I realized latley that you can't get this "retirement" outta yo head when it comes 2 L-Boogie lol she ain't gonna retire, man!

Ok here's a lil' info from her new LP:

"Kalumba Phase"-The title, it will be released lata next year(date 2 be released).

The album's main engineer was interviewd in Hot.97 3 months b4 and said that the LP is a combanation of Rock/Funk & Hip-Hop. She's taking with Mos Def, The Roots Crew, D'Angelo and she already worked with Carlos Santana on a non-released track they recorded in Florida right after she finished the Unplugged CD-set. I also heard that she recorded a tribute track 4 Nina Simone(or maybe its a cover).

The whole album was recorded in Florida, Miami.

L-Boogie is still here people, don't worry about her going no where. She still gonna bang the streets headbang

Hope that helps smile

I'm glad that Lauryn addressed this issue, because this rumor was so widespread just a few years ago.

In a recent message posted by a fan who met Foxy Brown (who is close friends with Lauryn), she mentioned that Lauryn just had another baby and how she really doesn't want to be bothered by the music industry anymore. Read for yourself here: http://www.foxboogie.com/...php?t=8438

I personally think that Wyclef must've really done a number on her, judging from the fact that she would name her whole album based on their turbulant relationship. She really needs to get it together and act like she's got some damn sense! mad

I'm interested in Lauryn's forthcoming material. I have respect for the woman. She's Ivy League educated. I mean, the girl went to Columbia and she's an emcee. She gets props.

She needs to get her head out of her ass, quit acting like she must create a masterpiece and just sing. Its going to end up like MJ's Invincible. Too many producers, guests rappers etc. Just bring it and quit trippin on your own success.

I was horrified when I saw her on MTV Unplugged. I figured Rohan did a number on her. Harlepolis' post gives me hope that she taps into her considerable talents once again.

I thought fame was the worst thing to happen to that whole crew anyway. Each of them take themselves WAY too seriously.
