How many more contracts will she sign to suck in more money cuz she can't sell her fucking album??? as if the overplayed GAP ads weren't enough?!!! And she says she is no longer a "material girl!" I think it's safe to say SELL OUT and finally mean it!!!

oh and i'm still salty that i still pay $10 to see commericals before movies-i get enough of that on my tv at home!

Estee Lauder Ad to Feature Madonna Song
Thu Aug 14, 7:29 AM ET

By The Associated Press

NEW YORK - Coming soon to a theater near you: Estee Lauder.

The cosmetics company has filmed a commercial for its new fragrance, Beyond Paradise, that will debut in more than 10,000 movie theaters nationwide in September.

Directed by Luc Besson (news) ("The Fifth Element" and "La Femme Nikita"), the commercial stars supermodel Carolyn Murphy and features a song from Madonna (news - web sites)'s "American Life" album.

"We wanted the advertising to be groundbreaking for Estee Lauder. The association of Luc Besson, Madonna and Carolyn Murphy will make for an exceptional visual and acoustic experience for movie and television audiences around the world," Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne, group president of The Estee Lauder Cos., said in a recent statement.

Murphy is the protagonist in a magical world of water, flowers and fairies in the 30-second spot. Top special effects experts in France spent several months composing each frame of the commercial with an exclusive cut of Madonna's "Love Profusion" track.

A TV version will air on MTV, VH1, E! and Style cable channels, the company said.

Of course she's a sell out, but she has to be. She's getting old and she's getting scared of her fans losing interest, so she does other ridiculous things to get her name in the news. Granted, she looks great for her age, but who wouldn't with all that money and pampering? Madonna should retire gracefully or at least change her music style. Once she turns 50 no one will want to see her doing the same old dance in all her videos with her nipples pointing north and her titties giggling all over.

I would. Provided the music is good, which it hasn't been since she started working with that there Mirwais. On Ray of Light she demonstrated that she had learned to actually sing, but now we hardly even get to hear it because of all the electronic voice treatments.
I haven't bought her new album, because there was so few good tracks on music and her latest single releases sucked. But did you hear her song The Next Best Thing on the soundtrack to that movie? Beautiful.
I'm hopeful she'll find a better co-producer for her next album - unlike with Prince. I lost hope for him getting better years ago. Sad, but true.

Eh?!

Madonna's been a sell-out since day one. That was her schtick. I'm not saying this as a dis - she's always been interested in mainstream, commercial appeal, and she's never made a secret of it. She's doing what she's always done, though maybe it's coming off a bit more desperate this year...

As for Madonna, if she uses Estee Lauder then she isn't a sellout. At least that's my definition of being a sellout. Like, did Cher really go to Bally's or did she have a personal trainer?

i think when madonna said "i wanna rule the world", she meant it. we knew back then that she would do whatever it takes to be on top. it took me some adjusting in the past 5 or 6 years to get used to this "new" fake madonna, but, in reality she has been fake all along. the only difference was that we were young enough (translation: dumb enough) to believe her.

All professional artists are "sell outs". Meaning, they make as much money as they can doing what they want to do.

Is that worse than doing what most people do, which is make as much money as they can doing something that they DON'T particularly want to do? I mean, Madonna would prolly be doing some sort of music/dance thing even if she weren't being paid. . .would you do your job if you weren't being paid?

Who is the bigger "sell out"?

So true.

What I find funny is that I never hear anyone calling athletes such as Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Venus Williams, etc sellouts for endorsing products, but if a musician dares to endorse a product they are a "sell out". Makes no sense.

I'm starting to think Guy is to Madonna what Larry is to Prince, a bad influence.

Someone needs to tell her husband to stop making sarchastic movies about people in their late 20's/early 30's strung out on drugs. It's really wearing thin.

Madonna is getting old. She caked on the makeup (estee lauder perhaps?) and threw on some kiddie clothes for the drowned world tour, but she's gotta give up the kiddie stuff sooner or later.

Ray of Light was such a nice change for her, it's a shame she's reverted to crap lately.

Very good point.Athletes have all these huge endorsement deals and nobody says anything. But let Madonna do a few commercials and they start a whole thread to complain about it.Madonna is a shrewd woman and she knows exactly what she's doing.

That is SO true. I agree completely. Besides, didn't Prince used to be against doing playback performances and giving interviews?
But as soon as he was free of WB he started doing both plenty. THAT is sell-out to me - to slack on your artistic integrity.

Has anyone seen her GAP commercial with Missy??? I thought that was a 'fake' Madonna, and then I was like Oh snap, that really is her!!! Madonna's still cool to me, I have no problem with her, but then again, I really just don't care. shrug

And Luc Besson's 'THE PROFESSIONAL' is one of my FAVORITE movies of all time. nod

her songs (and sometimes even Madonna herself) have been in commercials since the mid-80's overseas (particularly Japan).

this is nothing new.

but how do you feel about Prince doing "Little Red Corvette" in a Chevy commercial?

or, uh, Prince writing the Always Coca-Cola jingle?

It was my impression that he DID in fact write that. Remember the original version they aired back in '92/'93? VERY funky Price style tune. And then there is this "Coca-Cola" song he's registrated at Library of Congress.
Coincidence or fate?

Madonna has been and will always be a pop artist. Her raison d'etre [sp] is to sell records. She's very good at it. She sold out in 1982.

Madonna is a pop artist who happens to make good records occasionally. Prince is a musical artist (and arguably a former pop artist) who happens to make hits on now-rare occasions.

Does this mean "Love Profusion" is the third single? And why is the label even bothering releasing a third? Cut your losses. The album tanked.

All I want to know is why is it when we are talking about one artist someone has to bring up prince? We were not talking about him we were talking about madonna being a sellout. Why must we always feel the need to compare.

p.s. Yes I do think that madonna is being a sellout. I remember madonna saying not to long ago that she hated the
gap, and would never wear it. I guess she changed her tune now.

WHy do we always judgee one another? Can't we all just get together and sing songs in harmony without someone being judgemental?
