p.s. Yes I do think that madonna is being a sellout.

& on the Madonna issue, this is the way it is,& the way it will b.
she maybe flattered that they wanna use her song & i suppose she figures she can make a buck off it too.

gap, and would never wear it. I guess she changed her tune now.

The reason Prince's name came up is because some fans can be very hypocritical. They bash Madonna for doing the same things that many others artists do,such as making a commericial or allowing her music to be played in a commercial.I really don't see why this is even an issue. As Aaron pointed out,she has been doing commercials since the mid-80s (the song "Like A Prayer" was used in a Pepsi commercial).

Does this mean "Love Profusion" is the third single?

Warners will decide by the end of this month what the next single will be.At Madonna's official site, they're taking a poll, asking fans what song they prefer. The overwhelming favorite is "Nothing Fails".Personally,I think either "Love Profusion" or "Nobody Knows Me" should be the next single. The latter,in particular, would at least do well in the clubs.

Consider this...Madonna was paid $10 million to do the Gap ads.It really wasn't much work on her part (just dancing around in Gap jeans with Missy, and recording a short song that gets played in the ad) and the Gap is gonna help HER promote her upcoming children's book "The English Roses".

So,from a business perspective,Madonna knows exactly what she's doing smile

making up for the horrible record sales of "American Life"

and before i hear some dreadful explenation why going only "platinum" is phenominal please keep in mind that a superstar's contract requires specific sales to be hit before the $$$ kicks in...

The thing is

some trash prince 4 not being commercial

Yet we trash Madonna 4 being commerical

Either way it goes If Prince was still singing Little red corvette

Or Madonna made a jazz cd with no vocals,

We wouls still complain about their choices

Cuz u just can't make people happy

A little contradictory don't ya think ?

i think in both cases we are trashing the hypocrisy...its either that or the fact that we like calling out when a star is fading...yet the fans, in their blind fandom, will try to use any statistic or "theory" as to why their beloved is *still* a big act, despite all evidence pointing to the contrairy ...ACCEPT REALITY AND GET OVER IT!!

sorta like the democratic party right now...

You want contradictory?!!! Madonna said in 1991 (I think it was Vanity Fair) that you won't find ANY GAP clothes in her closet! Ok yes we are all entitled to change our minds over the years and to that point, I'm sure that Madonna has made alot more bling bling since 1991 and I'm sure with all that money NOW (as opposed to '91) you'll find her shopping at the GAP...why do Versace when you can do GAP?

umm...hello???!!! She's always been a "sell-out", that's how she makes her living.

She knows how to flirt, screw people over, be provocative, ect. She always been a sell-out and she fucking brilliant at doing it!
She does/did what Britney, Jessica, Mandy, ect. have been so desperately trying to do.
How else do you think she's stayed on top for so long? Because of her amaizing vocals and acting ability???!!

I'm not hating, I like her music, I'm a fan, her as a person seems quite interesting. But come on, she's been a sell-out from the get-go, why else do you think everyone (except teenage girls and young guys) hated her when she first came out?

well yeah- i was like 10 when the "madonna" album came out and I SO DID want to be her--in fact my sister took pics of me dressed as her doing the same pose as the inside cover to the self-titled--she was the coolest thing around in 1983 when she came into my life--but 20 years later, i'm so not about madge--i gave up on her after "music."

Once she turns 50 no one will want to see her doing the same old dance in all her videos with her nipples pointing north and her titties giggling all over.

I would. Provided the music is good, which it hasn't been since she started working with that there Mirwais. On Ray of Light she demonstrated that she had learned to actually sing, but now we hardly even get to hear it because of all the electronic voice treatments.
I haven't bought her new album, because there was so few good tracks on music and her latest single releases sucked. But did you hear her song The Next Best Thing on the soundtrack to that movie? Beautiful.
I'm hopeful she'll find a better co-producer for her next album - unlike with Prince. I lost hope for him getting better years ago. Sad, but true.

---
I hate to break the news to you but, Prince is getting better. He is getting back to the music and just put on some of the best live performances of his carreer. Madonna is running around making GAP commercials with a no-talent bum like Missy Elliot.

Being in horrible films with her no acting self is a real good move(LOL)

Hanging around no-talent Missy Elliot.

Hooking up with the dude that produced the MUSIC cd.

Speaking with a phony British accent.

Putting out an awful CD

These sound like great moves to you? I understand that Madonna is a white woman who shows her boobs a lot and can get away with a lot of shit but, realize if Prince took 10 million from the GAP everyboody on this board would be going off on him. I understand that it is o.k for Madonna to be number at the bank.

When do you think Warner Brothers will drop her from the label?

You know,it's hilarious watching a Prince fan criticize another artists's record sales.Since 1983,Madonna has sold over 160 million records around the world. But she's been in the game a long time so,inevitably,EVERY album is not gonna be a monster success. That's how the business is,but for the most part, her career is in a healthier condition than, say,Prince or Michael Jackson. As for your assertion that " a superstar's contract requires specific sales to be hit before the $$$ kicks in",you should know that Madonna is worth well over $300 million.Trust me,she's one of the few artists who can actually AFFORD to have the occasional flop.

Actually,I don't really consider 'American Life' to be the flop that many say it is.An album by a 45-year old married mother of two that debuts at Number One in over a dozen different countries, sells over 4 million copies around the globe, and has two Top 40 singles ("Die Another Day" and the title track) is not what I would consider a "flop".Also, when you consider the fact that Maddy has been around for 20 years and that the biggest sellers nowadays are basically the rappers and the teen acts, her CD actually sold pretty decently.

I see where you are coming from, but madonna is already rich. how much more rich can you be. I could see if madonna was homeless or something and they offer that amount of money to do a gap ad,but she is not so I see no need for her to play herself like that.

what a silly question. "how much more rich can you be?" i don't know, how much more rich could you be, if you were already a millionaire? you don't stay rich by turning down $10 million to do what basically amounts to your job on a afternoon on a soundstage.
