Rarity of the Day (8/2/03): Olympic Runners, "The Bitch" i gotta story for ya'll:
a while ago, i came across this song on a tv theme song website. it's the theme song to some made-for-teevee movie or sumfin, i forgot what it wuz (i gotta go look it up again). it had a minute-long snippet on it, and i liked it. it wuz pretty damned funky to me. well, today i went to the record store and i bought a 12" promo of "the bitch" that i had found within the crates of this one dude's booth there. i wuz like, "it can't be the same song!" i put it on this jinky lil' ol' record player the dude had set up so i could give it a test listen. sure enough, it wuz the same song i'd heard on the website. i never knew olympic runners even existed, they musta been super-hot flashes in the pan.  any of you old-skoolers know or have heard of these guys? just for reference: "the bitch" came out in 1979, and the 12" promo i got wuz released on polydor records.
think a bit and speak on this if you know it!

dayum, joan collins? i'm surprised i haven't seen it on channel 45 here in mpls, where they show all these cheesy ol' movies sometimes. | |

The Bitch was basically a British soft porn movie in the late seventies. I remember that it had some good footage of Joan Collins naked and semi naked if that kinda thing is your bag.
As for The Olympic Runners , I vaguely remember them performing this track on TV at the time. They were dressed kinda like EW&F in silver space suit outfits and wearing afro's with sweat bands.Only remember the chorus but I thought at the time it was a pretty corny song ( and I was only 10 years old ) | |
