BEST OF EURYTHMICS / ANNIE LENNOX

ok, i'm VERY happy about my new Annie compilation. I tried to do it focusing on singles and key commercial album tracks, like a "GREATEST HITS" rather than my personal "BEST OF". Sort of amazing how many great songs she's done over the last 20 years...

DISC ONE

I Only Want to Be With You
The Loneliest Man in the World
One Step Nearer The Edge
Never Gonna Cry Again
Revenge
Belinda
Take Me To Your Heart
This is the House
The Walk
Love is a Stranger
Sweet Dreams (are made of this)
Here Comes the Rain Again
Who's That Girl
Right By Your Side
Paint a Rumour (edit)
Sexcrime (1984)
Julia

DISC TWO

Would I Lie to You?
There Must Be an Angel
I Love you Like a Ball and Chain
Sisters are Doin' it for Themselves
It's Alright (Baby's Coming Back)
Missionary Man
When Tomorrow Comes
Miracle of Love
Thorn In My Side
The Last Time
I Need a Man
You Have Placed a Chill in My Heart
Beethoven (I Love to Listen To)
Shame
Don't Ask Me Why
Revival
King and Queen of America
Angel

DISC THREE

Why
Walking on Broken Glass
Little Bird
Money Can't Buy It
Legend In My Living Room
Love Song for a Vampire
No More "I Love You's"
Whiter Shade of Pale
Train in Vain
Waiting in Vain
17 Again
I Saved the World Today
Peace is Just a Word
Power to the Meek
Pavement Cracks
A Thousand Beautiful Things
Honestly
Wonderful

Tight! I like it. It's pretty close to one I made too. If you wanted to make it strictly singles/hits based, I would maybe change the following.

Replace "Revenge" with "Your Time Will Come" since the latter was kinda the title track and included on their Live EP. Throw in "Ministry Of Love" cuz it's so great and it had an official remix. Plus it was majorly featured in the movie. Disc 2 is perfect. If there was room for "Savage", I'd add that. Put on "Cold" and "Precious" instead of "Money Can't Buy It" and "Legend In My Livingroom" since they were singles. Squeeze in "Don't Let It Bring You Down" and "Bitter Pill".

But I like it a lot as is. Very well balanced and thought out.

Dunno. Good guesser? Plus I'm a sucker for a good tracklist.

It sounds good! There are some more Tourists singles and some other collaborative efforts like "Darling Don't Leave Me" and "Put a Little Love in Your Heart" that could work too. I like the inclusion of "Paint a Rumour" and "The Last Time." "Cold" and "Precious" need to be in there, though.

Thanks smile I agree with Ministry of Love, but i'm not sure if it fits a Greatest Hits type compilation.. It's such a quirky, dark little thing. But brilliant, true. And as for "Revenge" - I dunno. I just think it's the strongest track on that album, and since it was later used as a title for a different album, and was re-made --- sorta --- on Revenge Part 2, I've always thought it was a key early Eurythmics song. But "Your Time Will Come" could fit just as well... perhaps replace it for "Take Me To Your Heart". As for "Cold" and "Precious" - that's mostly my prejudice against those 2 songs - especially "Cold" which has to be my least favorite Annie song. Somehow Money Can't Buy It and Legend in My Living Room seem to stand up better somehow - they should have been singles. But yeah... if I were a record exec. putting out this collection, I probably would have done "Cold" and "Precious". And I thought about "Everytime I Say Goodbye" and "Put a Little Love in Your Heart" but neither of them really seemed to fit...

Paint a Rumour would have made a GREAT single. There's a perfect spot for an edit/fade out at about 3:30. And I put in the Last Time because it's such an obvious single and was in the movie Outrageous Fortune prominently.

What's Darling Don't Leave Me? I don't think i'm familiar with that. Charlie Cat may have worked on disc one, between the In the Garden and Sweet Dreams stuff...

Darling Don't Leave me was from the same album as Charlie Cat. She did them with Robert Gorl in 1983. Apparently there's a 3rd song they did together called "Playtime" but I haven't been able to find it.

Do you have most of her b-sides? They're brilliant.

OK, yeah i remember it now... i have the Robert Gorl album, but I've always focused on Charlie Cat. I'll have to dig it out again and listen to it.

I think I have all of the B-Sides, apart possibly from a couple of the more experimental Sweet Dreams/ Touch - era things. Some of them are absolutely fantastic!!! Especially Monkey, Monkey and Rich Girl - those are my 2 faves. And what's that song from the This is the House 12 inch... 4/4 in leather, something like that? Live track, very edgy... that's another great one. I have an alternate version of I Could Give You a Mirror from somewhere... or maybe it's a demo. But yeah some of the B-sides are fantastic... See No Evil... Grown Up Girls... Invisible Hands... Home is where the Heart Is, quirky little track... Baby's Gone Blue, a bit tragic smile

It's cool to see someone else acknowledge their b-sides cuz they're so unheard of. I felt like my brother, best friend and I were the only ones that knew them. We were starting to feel so exlusive that it seemed like we made them up ourselves! lol

"Charlie Cat" is way better and is arguably the best of the rare Eurythmics related stuff. "Darling Don't Leave Me," however was a single. I have the 7" and the 12". It's great to see people who know those songs!

I don't get why you don't like "Cold." It's my second favorite from "Diva" and a bonafide classic in my opinion. To each their own, I guess.
