Gospel/ House Music

what do y'all think about Gospel House music? You know Gospel music that sounds like tech/Disco. If somebody was trying to make a album in such terms, do you think they would have a long lastig career or do you think it would just become some kinda fad that would fade out?

My reason for asking is becaus I want 2 do gospel album, but I don't want to do the contempary gospel sounding stuff. I like alot of house music and thought it would be kinda cool 2 mix the 2 2gether.

I listen 2 alot of disco tracks music from back in the days and how noticed how alot of the music had feel good vibes with positive lyrics silimar 2 a good ol' fashion gospel jam. I kind of wanna make a demo with the same vibe, only difference is I won't be calling it neo disco or neo gospel house, it'll just be what it is... Feel Good music 2 lift ya spirirts lol

I wouldn't claim 2 be the orignator of the colaberation, there are already a few artist who've already beat me 2 the punchline. You mostly would hear it in the gay clubs like in Detroit or Chicago. Whenever the dj's play it, everybody in the crowd go wild...smile

Check out Cece peniston song He loves me. it came out sometime in 99' it's a club classic. I was shocked when I found out it was a gospel song

I say "Do ya' thing, DigitalLisa!" music Whatever God tells you to do, I'd do it because it's obviously put in His will for a reason. I do think it may be a contradiction though for it to be played in gay clubs, but that's just my opinion. I know The Clark Sisters's "You Brought The Sunshine" was a huge hit in clubs and discos back in the 80's, so who knows? Just do you and do it to the best of your ability!

It's something I have been wanting 2 do for a long time. Cuz I feel closer 2 my spirit when I do.. for a long time I always been nervous 2. cuz I thougt the majority would never really accept it and i was even more intimindate after seeing all the backlash Prince got after becoming a Jehovah Witnesss neutral, however. I don't want to nesscarily become a gospel artist, cuz there's alot of other things I want 2 write about, but I thought 2 myself
If I ever came out as a real artist I don't want 2 be another Beyounce or another Ashanti either, how much more of this touture can we take?

I'm not in love, I'm not looking for love, I'm not having any sexuals adventures and I would feel like if I'm singing songs about sex all the time, I would just be like everybody who's possing plus the the sex act is over done anyway.

I want 2 write about songs that means something and maybe change the world if possible. I think this would be the way 2 go even though some people might not want 2 listen

I said if I learned anything from being a Prince fan, it would be not 2 care what others think, give the finger 2 creative control and like pimpn said just do my thing...

The bottom line is that people are ALWAYS going to criticize you whether it's postive or negative. What's sad it that they're even quicker to do it when it is postive. Just look at what happend to Christ! You just have to get to a point where you put everything that the world is saying aside and live for what makes you happy and content in your spirit. I wish you well in your future endeavors! clapping

This reminds me of when the Mighty Clouds of Joy came out with "Mighty High." Talk about conflicted? I didn't know whether to do "The Bump" or pray! The rhythm was slammin' but I never danced to it.

But, I guess if the music gets the Message out there and moves people at the same time your job is done.

sorry to tell you dlisa but the audience you're going to find for gospel house will be in predominently gay clubs.
gay clubs MAKE these artists. what would the contradiction be anyway?

I was thinking...

I wonder where songs like Eddie Kendricks' "He's a Friend" and "Goin' up in Smoke" fit in? They seem to have religious undertones (for lack of a better term). Same for "I Want to Thank You" (can't think of the singer.)

I thought so, but I did a search for her and spelled her last name "Myers." D'oh! When I searched the title Shante Moore came up as the artist. I didn't know she did that song over.
