The new Jewel album - 0304 - who has it/what do you think? .
Personally I took a plunge on this one based on the promise of the single and it's fairly clever video which parodies a lot of cliches about today's pop music industry and scene. First listen, I found the first few songs to be pretty good, but the album didn't hold me... HOWEVER, the next day, I realised I wasn't in a very good mood when listening the first time and I really begun to feel a lot of the melodies which immediately were familiar even though it was only my 2nd listen to the whole album. Now, in short I think that it is a very good album. I'm giving it three 1/2 stars as of my second listen. That may increase as I delve into it further...what seemed a superficial pop album at first does in fact have a lot more substance than previous Jewel outings. I'm interested to see what other orgers think (if you have heard the whole album).

My friend played it for me this weekend, but I'm so tired of hearing people complain about "pop" and the music industry right now, that I'm having a hard time enjoying it.
I'm under the impression she didn't choose the pop sound just purely to criticize it, she's cashing in on the sound as well. [This message was edited Mon Jun 30 10:55:25 PDT 2003 by Tom]
