Beyonce is clearly her own woman, fully involved in creating her songs, her media image, etc.

Jay-z just adds some street cred, the obligatory rap verse per song, and a temprary (hopefully) romance.

The first video I saw of him, since it was getting more play than Aguilera at a biker bar, I figured, okay, I'll give it a listen, try to get into it.

When I awoke from my coma, I swore to avoid him. It must be the son of a Sony CEO or something.

The SECOND heavy-rotation video, I thought, wow, this guy REALLY has somebody in his back pocket.

BUT, when I saw/heard him mumble onto other folks' songs, to give THEM cred, (SAY WHAT???) I knew, nope, there's something TO this guy. Not family, not money, but pure talent.

And so, well, uh. MAN I just don't see it. I'll take COOLIO over this guy any day, and I'm not a fan of Coolio so much either, but at LEAST he was interesting. Jay Z looks like he'd rather be getting his Vice City on.

And what stands out is lame-Z. WHAT the hell is he doing there. There's folks with much more talent out there, lyrically, whatever. I know that Hip Hop is not a musically-driven style, it's all about the lyrics. I love Missy Elliot - she's always pushing the boundaries. And then 50-Cent comes along and takes us back 5 years to boring mumbling shit.

But hey- this is just my opinion, in no way am I telling anybody else what to think about this stuff. I love P.E. and Missy, and even SOME Emenem, but not much... but damn everybody keeps telling me how awesome he is. WHATEVER. I don't get it.
