well it hasn't been that long since you didn't like a madonna song, if 'don't tell me' was ur last favorite of hers...just a 2year gap! LOL
Well Madonna is amazing and killing it in that old bleach blonde hair of hers that reminds me of the express yourself/vogue era! And she's aging like wine! but thank god PRINCE still looks the same, Madonna whats up girl! Never couldve imagined you at 44 years old! The song is my favorite on American Life, and then I'd have to go for " I'm so Stupid" for the next video or Mother and Father! hmmm next album please!

I wasn't really impressed with the video.Madonna looks great in it,but not much happens in this video. After all the controversy with the last video, perhaps Maddy just wanted to play it safe this time? Maybe I just need to see it again...lol...

Just heard Hollywood for the first time and like American Life it does not move me at all.
It has that empty irritating guitar thingie from the last album. The album is not really tempting to buy.

Seems the rumors-madonna turning into a man towards the end, celebrity guests: salma hayek, julia roberts-were a lot more interesting than this video. Don't think it's gonna help getting the single much air play...any news on the gap commercial? Let's see...this video got SO MUCH PRE-HYPE and all I did was yawn. You've got her feeling her boobies like she did in the red dress in la isla bonita, you 've got her all decked out in 40's celeb garb like she looked in Vogue and Express Yourself...she dances around and makes funny faces like she did in "fever" and at the very end she's hitchhiking (like "Erotica/SEX book) --only this time she decided to wear clothes and cover herself up. the song ain't all that...i felt like it was no doubt's song "making out" sped up. not like maddy was looking for shock value or anything witht his video here but I think her vehicle is running very low on gas.
Ho hum. Let the rain come down...17 days....

i think it is a funny video. she points out all the things she's done to stay "it" in hollywood and at the end she just turns it all off. kinda cool. i don't believe for a second that she is finished trying to be the "it" girl but hey, if the record sells because of the image...
i like the song. usually purplegypsy and i agree on things but lately we've reversed our opinions on madonna. she liked her when i couldn't stand her, now its vice versa.

Disappointing. Didn't make much sense (what's with the bouncing ball?) I found she looked her age. Probably because of those hideous wigs. I don't see this helping the single much.

Hah...I saw a piece of this video and she looked like she was taking it back 2 her "Material Girl" blonde look

The video was okay. It looked nice enough. But the problem I have with it is one of the problems I have with the Die Another Day video (aside from the oddly violent content).
Both videos squander an opportunity to tell a narrative. Each could be constructed with a thematic beginning, middle, and end, to tell a story. In the case of DAD, the external suffering, the inner conflict, and then finally overcoming both in the end. Instead, it seems a bit random, with all of the different scenes edited together, with no cohesive narrative told, the point seems to get lost There are 2 problems with Hollywood. It suffers the same randomness as the DAD video. It could have exquisitely told the story of an actress' rise to fame, and the fading of the star in the later years (with the botox, and the coldness/sterility of a fabulous life (when she's platinum blond/with the maid)) throughout the decades represented in it. In the end, it seems like the filming of a bunch of random photo shoots, with no real point. And that last bit is the other problem. The song has a message. But does the video? Nothing really happens. We don't see any sort of price paid for fame, no turning point in attitude represented. It's all just a bit pointless, really.

Also:
while i like the forward/rewind effect used on her movements, that fast-forward thing the video uses was old even before Ray Of Light.

She's done better. I like the way she moves her legs, tho'. I'd still take a roll around the room with her, if you know what I mean!
