Where the hell is the new Soul\Funk!!!!!!

Late 2001 early 2002 we got some good soul\funk records from Sade (Lover's Rock), Michael Jackson (invinc.) Prince (TRC), Saadiq (Instant Vintage), Maxwell (Now) Jaguar Wright and Remy Shand to name a few. Since then it's been dead! Sure we have had a couple nice CDs here and there but nothing like that 2001/2002 period. When then hell we gonna get some new shit! Anyone know of something coming out? Prince, Maxwell, Remy what the hell y'all doing? I need some new music NOW! wall

Sounds like one of those summer BBQs where they tell you the food will be ready at 2 and everyone is sitting around at 3 hungry as hell!

I'm eagerly awaiting a new Remy Shand Cd,rumored to be released later this year. There is a new Earth Wind and Fire CD due Tuesday.I don't know if you consider them funk/soul,but Jamiroquai is also working on their next album.

Mark August 5 on your calendar. That's the day Michael Franti and Spearhead release their new album Everyone Deserves Music. I've had a promo for about a week and it's excellent! Hopefully this beautiful, uplifting amalgamation of funk/soul/rock/dancehall/afrobeat will be a big hit; it certainly deserves to be.

Peace, David

Didn't know about Remy's new shit. Thanks for sharing that! With Jamiroquai you never know what you gonna get. That last CD was straight disco! Have to admit I liked some of it though lol

Thicke's CD was released not too long ago, and it's very good! Not quite Remy Shand good, but he also displays a little more variety than Remy. A solid debut from a great new artist...

It seems like the bigger name artists release new music around the same time or year. Too bad there can't be a calculated rotation of neo-soul artists, so the music can be spread out. Well there's Vivian Green's Love Story which includes "Emotional Rollercoaster" that's been playing alot on the radio. Really good music. More for the mature listening crowd.

1. Wishful Thinking
2. 24 Hour Blue (Just One Of Those Days)
3. Superwoman
4. What Is Love?
5. Music
6. Emotional Rollercoaster
7. Final Hour
8. No Sittin' By The Phone
9. Affected
10. Fanatic
11. Ain't Nothing But Love
12. Be Good To You
13. Complete
14. Keep On Going

There's a local newcomer Goapele's "Even Closer" with the dream-like aura of her latest single "Closer." Her voice is mesmerizing.

1. Closer
2. Ease Your Mind
3. Got It Listen
4. Romantic Listen
5. Too Much the Same
6. Catch ZZ
7. Daze
8. Things Don't Exist
9. Childhood Drama
10. Salvation
11. Back to You
12. Butterflykisses
13. It Takes More
14. Red, White & Blues

Check out samples on Amazon.com
"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

The song "Harder and Harder" is funky, but LAWD it sounds too much like Justin and NSYNC... TOO poppy haramony alto boy vocals.

I saw 100s of copies of MJ's Invincible - which cost almost as much to make as Blair and Bush spent on flattening Iraq - in my local Music Zone for £2.

Still didn't buy it though wink

It's not great but for £2 isn't to be sniffed at, cheaper than a CD single and you're bound to like one or two songs on it.

I don't know what direction Jamiroquai will go in this time around, but if it's anything like 'A Funk Odyssey',I will be satisfied.Leader Jay Kay is hanging around in Italy (!),getting new inspiration for the new album.
