I am neither black or white but one thing that confuses me is the lack of white people in these video...i mean they are the largest section of consumers arent they?

It's just to be expected, just like you'll probably never see a black person in a country video, dont get me wrong I'm not prejudice but that's just the way the music business is now.

well, obviously there are more reports goin on in our community about rappers always getting these mixed girls up in their videos rather than having full beautiful chocolate queens on them. If there were bunches o white girls in the videos, it would cause uproars...

They're too busy running the corporations that own the rappers' labels to appear frequently in videos.

What would be the point of rappers doing that? Prince already did the "black guy with white chicks in his videos" thing.

If White people are buying the lion's share of the hip-hop records, then why wouldn't they be represented in the videos? hmm

Somebody like Rakim, KRS-ONE, etc. needs to stand up, Miles-like, and declare that "hip-hop as we knew it is dead."

I think it has a lot to do with the appearance that hip-hop is a black-ghetto thing, some unsafe, animalistic place frequented by nonwhites.

If the image seen most often on Mtv changed to place that was "safe" enough for white kids, then it would lose part of the edge that makes it so popular in the first place.
