Here we go, in no particular order of course:

Cupid Is A Real Straight Shooter
Yes Indeed
Deja Vu (I've Been Here Before)
Cassanova Brown
Shadow Boxing
Dear Lover
Out On A Limb
Stop The World
How Can You Resist It?
Dear Lover

Honorable mentions: Ooo La La La and Love Me Down Easy

I'm sure there are more I could "mention", but this is it right off the top of my head. smile

Aladdin's Lamp
I Need Yor Lovin
Portuguese Love
Deja Vu (Been Here B4)
Behind the Groove
Square Biz
Now That I Have You
If I Were Your Bell
Dear Lover
Out On A Limb

Aladdin's Lamp to me is just sick (vocally)!!! When she hits the part "..and oohhh where ever u r this 1's 4 u baby)...lawd have mercy, it just gives u chills!!! Then she follows it up with her version of a jazz scat, another goose bump holding note and squeezes out "maybe that will e-x-p-r-e-s-s what I'm going thru...Aladdin...Aladdin...I'm going rub all over u" WWWHHHATTT!!! worship
I love this women...she is definately a diva that has been overlook. Teena ( I think I have said this b4 on another thread ) can blow the pants off of these "so called" new divas. I notice no one has attempted to cover one of her songs...and ya know I hope they don't.
WOW David you got me all hot and bothered...poppin' in the cd

a little Teena trivia for ya...

***A young Teena Marie was signed to Motown in 1976,but they didn't know what to do with her. They paired her with many different producers, and she recorded many songs and demos, but she had to wait until 1978 for her first album to finally be released.

***After the successful 'It Must Be Magic' album,Teena sued Motown in 1982,saying she was underpaid.Things got really ugly for awhile, with Motown threatening to release a collection of early Teena demos as her next album (to fulfill her contractual obligations). In the end,Teena prevailed in court and was able to end her association with them. She signed to Epic and released 'Robbery' in late '83.

***Teena has toyed with the idea of making a rap album. In the mid-90s,she talked about an album where she would rap through the whole project, and there would be funny little segues with her pal Yo-Yo pleading with her "Teena, when are you gonna SING??".Then,at the very end of the album,Teena would finally start singing!

***Teena has a new CD 'Black Reign' all completed and ready to go.She is now signed to Cash Money Records and had been planning a reunion tour with Rick James for this summer.Sadly, none of these projects have materialized.

I could only think of 5:

SQAURE BIZ
not only her best "dance number", but in my opinion 1 of the
FUNKIEST
songs ever.. that bassline is NASTY

I Need Your Lovin'
"breezy" orchestration featured in this "sophisticated funk" classic; clever lyrics like "cuz m-o-n-e-y.. never did a thing for l-o-v-i..n" & "I don't want want your fire, without your flame"

Behind The Groove
wild "jungle funk" with great, percussive brass

Portuguese Love
rhythmic, "jazzy".. the "long version" is the only way to listen to this 1

Young Love
wistful, almost haunting.. yet beautiful; Tina emotes SO WELL..
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

Not to be nit-picky, but it's "Teena"!!! Not "Tina".

What a coincidence! "Fire and Desire" is playing right now. When I saw this thread Teena's part had just started.

I'm probably the only one on the planet who's not a big TM fan. Don't get me wrong, she can SANG, it's just that she's never been one my favorite artist. However, I do like "Square Biz" and "I Need Your Lovin'".

Years ago, I worked with a guy who wasn't a fan of hers. He said "She trys to out black everybody." I thought that was funny.

AAAH!

Finally a thread wheres I can git my groove on!

Being the Teena FANATIC that I am though, I'm gonna have to answer this the same way that I'd answer it if someone asked me for my favorite James Taylor tunes. I'm gonna have to sort it a bit by time period.

How bout Motown/Epic. And I'll just leave Passion Play by itself, eh? Pretty Man and Main Squeeze were beautiful though.

Motown Years
I'm Gonna Have My Cake (And Eat It To)
The Battle Of Cradle, Rob and Me
Behind The Groove
Yes Indeed
Young Love
It Must Be Magic
Now That I Have You (meant for Minnie Ripperton)
Tune In Tomorrow
Where's California
Revolution

Epic Years
Sunny Skies
Ivory (A Tone Poem)
Midnight Magnet
My Dear, Mr. Gaye (oh, I LOVE this song! specially the end)
Miracles Need Wings To Fly
Shadow Boxing
Jammin'
Battucada Suite
How Can You Resist It
Movie Produce Her (Taken from Bernadette Cooper's "Drama According to..." CD. Teena sings on the joint. HOT!!)

I feel better now.

Thanks

Has anyone heard any news on her new CD 'Black Reign'??? This is ridiculous! She has been talking about this CD since the late 90s.And now that she finally has a record deal (Cash Money Records),you would think that her CD would be released. Her website has no new updates (they do have a brief audio clip from one of the songs) and I haven't heard anything about it's release. The album has been completed for awhile, now where is it???
