The Cure- Trilogy DVD

I just bought this 2-disc set of the Cure's live performance of "Trilogy" in Berlin. They perform the albums "Pornography," "Disintegration" and "BloodFlowers" in their entirety with a bonus encore of "The Kiss" and "If Only Tonight We Could Sleep."

My brother and I watched "Pornography" and "Disintegration" and it only reaffirmed to me why they are my favorite band- perfectly done songs that sound at least as good as they do on record, in many cases better. Robert is empassioned, especially in "Prayers for Rain" and the lighting and playing are unreal.

What really stood out to me is the greatness of "Pornography." I never really got into that album, fearing that it was too opaque to really absorb. However, I was floored by songs that I was hearing with new ears. "Cold" sounded like I had never heard it before and is one of my very favorites now. I have a new sense for the album and am ready to indulge.

I highly suggest that anyone interested buy this set. It was $5 off at Virgin Megastore in Salt Lake City.

I bought it too last week and i couldnĀ“t believe how fantastic it is. I am watching it all the time. Pornography, Disintegration and Bloodflowers are my favorite Cure-Albums anyway. There is not a single weak song on one of them. It is nice to see that they know that their true strengh lies in making such dark and heavy music. Much of their lighter songs like on Wild Mood Swings or the new tracks on their last greatest hits album are really horrible in my opinion.
I think the best tracks on Trilogy are the whole Pornography-Set, the second half of the Disintegration-Set and The Kiss which is really mindblowing.

This couldn't have come at a better time really. Over the past few months I've only been into a few artists. Leading up to and around the time of the Annie Lennox concert, she was all I was hearing. And preparing for the new Madonna album and once it finally came out, it was solid listening for a couple months. But for some reason, I got on a Cure kick. And for those of you who are fans, you know what I'm talking about. I made this killer 4 cd set and have been playing it constantly. My brother and I even listened to the whole thing non-stop on the way out West. And naturally, I was jonesing for a concert. With none in sight, the Trilogy dvd was very timely. I thought The Cure In Orange was good. This captures the energy and ethic of Cure even better. I knew this was in the works, but I didn't know it was ready for release so soon. It rules. You must see it if you're the slight bit interested. Violett, Endo, Carrie...are we still on for a party?

I just watched the 2nd disc of this and was reminded just how good the Bloodflowers album is. The stretch from 39 - Bloodflowers - If Only Tonight - The Kiss is fucking unbelievable. Robert's guitar work has never sounded better and I had no idea he could recreate that sound live. The interview was fascinating too. I've been a fan since I was a kid, yet I honestly don't ever remember seeing him speak outside of a concert setting. This is one of the best concerts I've ever witnessed. Love it!

Anxiety

I've been tempted to buy this...it was in my sweaty little mitts this afternoon, as a matter of fact...but as I'm not very familiar with Pornography or Bloodflowers, I put it back...The Cure isn't exactly known for putting on a dynamic stage show, but their musicianship is amazing. And Disintegration is one of my most loved albums ever...sooo tempted!!! Should I make the splurge then?

Yes! If you don't know those albums already, you'll want to after you see this. All the performances are flawless and they're more exciting than they've ever been live. It's one of the best music releases of the year and certainly one of the most unexpected surprises. It'll blow your mind. I promise you.

Hi Tron,
you will find the hidden selections if you go to the Disintegration men menu, highlight Plainsong or The same deep water as you and push the ball on the left a little further to the left and click on it.
On the second disc you will find some interview outtakes by highlightening the "End of an Era?" Question.

Have fun watching it.
