Most underrated song from MJ's 'Thriller' album

Y'all know the song I'm talking about.Whenever we do our "Top 10 MJ songs" threads, nobody ever includes this song on their list.'Thriller' is one of those landmark albums where nearly EVERYTHING on it was a hit..."The Girl Is Mine","Billie Jean","Beat It","Wanna Be Startin Something","Human Nature","PYT (Pretty Young Thing)" and the title track were all released as singles and became huge hits.Even a non-single like "Lady In My Life" also received alot of radio airplay and attention (today,it's a Quiet Storm radio staple). So,that leaves one song out.Do you guys consider it to be the sad, lonely filler track that nobody cares about??

"Baby Be Mine" smile

For the record,I like this song alot. After the loud, relentless opening track ("Wanna Be Startin Something"),"Baby Be Mine" slows the pace a bit, serving the same purpose as "Rock With You" on the 'Off The Wall' album (that song also followed a fast, uptempo dance track).Considering how hot MJ was in 1982/83,ANY song from 'Thriller' could have been a smash hit. But,what about "Baby Be Mine"? Did it have hit potential?

It's a great track...and anything can be a hit with the right marketing push...the question is, was it a great song? I think so.

Baby Be Mine has been a favorite of mine every since the Thriller album came out. Usually when I pull that cd out that is the 1st song I play!!

The most underrated is definitely "Baby Be Mine."

"The Girl Is Mine" and "The Lady in My Life" are incredibly sappy and embarrassingly bad, though.

The other 6 are legendary cuts!

I do hate The Girl Is Mine. But how can any1 go past some of the classics on it, Beat It, Thriller, Billy Jean...etc

Every song on Thriller is a classic, and Baby Be Mine is no exception. I love that upbeat post-disco track.

sad smame!

anyway...baby Be Mine is the first song I EVER learned in my head all te way when I was 9 years old. I was on the bus in 4th grade, then all of a sudden..BAM! I sung the whole song...and i kep singin it again and again that whole day!smile

My favorite part is how they go "All The!" and they stop and the music just keeps going..then on the 2nd chorus they go "all the tii-"! STOP! BAM! Damn that is tight how they did that!

Then opn the 3rd chorus they go "All the! / show me how its gentle..." FUCK!!! That is so tight. Gives me chills. And Baby Be Mine usually comes first b4 I even start playing all the songs from Thriller (or PYT).

Thay played Baby Be Mine couple times here on KMOJ in Minneapolis.

I jumped in happiness!

Make sure you get the remastered versions. It has some extra songs like the song from E.T. The remastered Off The Wall rocks as well...

When I saw your thread title, the first thing I thought was "Baby Be Mine" I love that song! It's my favorite from the album. I have the LP so I have to lift the needle and start it over and over again. I love it!
