Ruben vs Clay crap

yesterday I was in the store and I saw three magazines questioning if Ruben won fairly or if he should have won at all. Star Jones from "The View" says she's gotten hate mail for liking Ruben.

What is all of this about? I'm not a fan of American Idol but damn...I like both Ruben and Clay...this is all so ugly.

I heard that, too. Apparently Star was getting hate mail saying that she should take Ruben and go back to Africa. shocked I think that's pretty intense for some televised talent show. It seems like Ruben wasn't getting the telephone votes from the viewers at first so it looked like he was in last place. Maybe that's why some people don't think that he won fairly. shrug

that is absolutely ridiculous!!!

they are both extremely talented IN THEIR OWN WAYS!!!

at the beginning of the finals when there were 12...i decided right then i liked BOTH Ruben and Clay...and that whichever one won i would be happy.

personally, i would have voted for Clay, in the end if i could have (i can't i'm Canadian). but i stll think Ruben is amazing and i also think he deserved to win. Fuck the media!!

the two were only seperated by 1300 votes out of 21 million...doesn't anyone else think that is fuckin' crazy??? that shows right there that both were deserving!

wink
you're only as old as you feel..............so how old do i feel horny

Now that food has replaced sex in my life, I can't even get into my own pants.

you can blame american idol for all of this. They are trying to extend the show into a sales competition, getting people to buy records thinking they are still voting - in the mean time, the producers of american idol will rake in the money. They're releasing singles against each other and albums against each other. There's really no reason for this other than as a marketing ploy.

With that happening, and Clay totally dominating the sales thus far, it's not too surprising that tehre would be headlines asking if the right person won. After all, a little manufactured controversy sells magazines.

In the end, Clay and Ruben will both be successful and will remain friends. They both realize this is all just marketing hype.

On the radio the other day I heard that Reuben was getting hate email. WTF? Why can't people get over the fact that America chose it's idol and that's it! Finito! Well, until the next session, that is...

btw, I can't help but wonder if there would've been an uproar if Reuben were a full-blooded Native American?

In the beginning, I thought Ruben could sing. He seemed to get worse to me as the competition wore on. His single doesn't sound good to me. And I cringe when they play the version of Flying without Wings from his winning night. Awful.

Frankly, Clay's too corny and smug for me, while Ruben seems a bit sloppy, inarticulate and mediocre as a singer.

I didn't think either one deserved to be the American Idol. Trenyce should have won it, and that's pushing it because she has some growing to do herself as a performer.

I just don't think they had outstanding talent this year.

Big man can sannnggg tho', either fifty five ways you look at it.

We should nickname him The Phantom - as in The Phantom Of The Opera - because that's where he should be and what he should be doing. Broadway.

Great voice, good strong talent, BUT I thought she got worse as the show went on. Except her last performance, where she was plain unlucky to get kicked off when that butt ugly, no-talent, jarhead hick Josh was left standing. Can't find Saddam? Send him out to the Iraqi desert with a PA system and get him to "sing" "Celebrate". Actually, get him to sing anything - that'll make Saddam's ears bleed and he'll come out with his hands up. Josh'll be the new bunker buster. Just drop him from a plane and watch him fly. Without wings.

This is what I said before the winner was chosen. Neither of those guys, Ruben or Clay, really has what it takes to be a true pop music idol. Ruben is a one-note crooner, and Clay is a Vegas lounge singer.

I was not impressed by either of them and don't plan to buy their CDs, especially not Clay's ridiculous over-the-top version of Bridge Over Trouble Water.

Whoever said earlier that the big winner is the show's producers is right. Keeping the competition going with stories about who really won and alleged problems with the phone lines and voting are marketing tools to boost CD sales and keep the American Idol brand name out there.
