Um, rock falls under the queendom of Aretha, too. It oughta.

but, if we're going to categorize music along the lines of skin color instead of musical structure, I guess I won't be too offended if we give a smaller crown to the very deserving Chrissie Hynde.

Well, the categories aren't really along racial lines because technically, MJ is black (even though he looks white) and he is the King of Pop.

right, but now we're talking about the queen of what, and face facts... rock music, from the 70's on is the domain, primarily, of white musicians.

i agree with you. i know where it comes from, but let's be real about what it IS, instead of getting hung up on what it WAS.

Stevie Nicks! Some of her stuff is softer ballad stuff and every so often she leans toward pop and even dance and R&B but still...she rocks! The same can be said for Tina but Stevie writes nearly all of her stuff. That's worth something. Tina did a record with Metro for cripes sake! Then again, Tina is a real survivor and isn't that what rock is all about? Hmmm...

yes, girl! break it down for 'em! lol

i think my personal queen of rock is debbie harry. i'm sure we've all got a differemce of opinion but when i think of ladies rockin' it, i think of debbie immediately!

btw...why do we need to bring race and color issues into EVERYTHING? every form of music stems from another form of music. geesh, we can't even talk about the simplest thing anymore without the race card being thrown down. sorry to moan, but i'm just so sick of it.

I can agree with that. But, at least make Chrissie Hynde, Alanis Morrissette and Laura Nyro dutchesses.

the only way Janet could be the Queen of Pop is because Madonna did it first. the girl doesn't have an original thought, let alone idea, in her head.

Did Ms. Morissette ever find out what "ironic" means?

It has been brought to my attention that Madonna may be losing her crown as Queen of Pop. According to the message, the new Queen of Pop will either be Kelly Clarkson or Christina Aguilera exclaim
