I finally listened to this Cd for the first time- and I love it. I don't have anything of his except Faith and Listen without prejudice...because i like his "hits." But I LOOOVE this album!!! THe song "The strangest thing" is y favorite.

The entire Older cd is amazing. George shows how much he has matured over the years and proves that he is a great writer and singer.

His Voice&His Songwriting are on Point Here. You get a Solid Balance of Slow&Up-Tempo Material."Jesus to a Child"&"FastLove" are GM Classics IMHO.

I know it's a disgrace. Is George Michael one of the least prolific writers around or what! Can you believe he has only had 3 solo studio albums in 16 years. Get a move on George!!!

This is so weird that you posted this now. I was just listening to this album yesterday and the day before that because I hadn't heard it for a while.
I love it too.

Yup, yup.. it's quite sad. Of course, part of the reason for the lack of albums was due to his lawsuit against Sony... that whole time period between Listen Without Prejudice Volume 1 and Older was mainly due to Sony. Listen Without Prejudice Volume II was more or less done, as I recall... IIRC, songs like Too Funky, Crazyman Dance, and others were intended for that project.

Oh, and that's 4 Solo albums, BTW:
Faith
LWP Volume 1
Older
Songs From The Last Century

Yeah but Songs from the last century weren't HIS songs.

FREEEK was the last thing he released, and IT was the JAM! (well, except for the war protest song)

True, they weren't his compositions, but it still counts. smile

I agree Freeek! is a really great tune... I love how the modem sound is used in the track. I thought Shoot The Dog was "okay" but loved the video.

I like this album too. The only song I don't really dig is Older. Spinning The Wheel is smooth, and You Have Been Loved is beautiful, just listen to the lyrics and the way he delivers them.

She takes the back road and the lane
past the school that has not changed
in all this time
she thinks of when the boy was young
all the battles she had won
just to give him life

that man
she loved that man
for all his life
but now we meet to take him flowers
and only God knows why

...

take care my love, she said
don't think that God is dead
take care my love she said

you have been loved

Also check out Star People Unplugged - excellent soulful version on MTV.

I always post on these GM threads and it always saddens me, because the man can write a song, he's obviously got the tools, he just doesn't seem to use them as often as we might like (for whatever reason).
