I thought Jamiroquai broke up?! Maybe Jay Kay was just letting off some steam regarding the music biz or something.

Looking forward to their next effort.

Last year,Jay Kay made some unfavorable comments to the press about Sony and how he was fed up with the music biz in general. He threatened to quit making music, but he has since changed his mind. His Sony contract calls for several more albums and I don't think he was willing to battle them the way George Michael did.

I look forward to "The J"'s new LP, as well as D'Angelo's and Remy Shand's. I have discovered Bilal's "first born second" LP and it is a good one. Thicke is a little schizo for my taste (Prince is about the only artist around today that can jump from genre to genre on the same LP with a degree of effectiveness). Vivian Green's is pretty good too.

There's this cat called Dwele that sung on Slum Village's "Real Love" single last year and his LP drops Tues. Also, Amel Larrieux is coming with a new one.

Hang tough y'all. Some reinforcements are coming.

There's a really good album by Donnie called "The Colored Section." I've heard it and it's great! Check it out on Amazon.

Amel Larrieux's forthcoming sophomore album "Bravebird" should drop this June. If you want to download an MP3 of her new song "For Real" go to Amazon.com Music Downloads category and type in "Amel Larrieux For Real."

More good music...

-Les Nubians "One Step Forward"
-Red Hot + Riot Compliation
-Joan Armatrading "Lover's Speak" (not exactly Soul/Funk, but she's great nonetheless)

Dwele has an excellent chilled joint called "Truth" but he's been overly hyped up IMO. "Subject" places him above Musiq, Remy Shand etc but it's not messing with anything by D'Angelo or Bilal. It's of a similar standard to the decent Donnie album "Colored Section".

Do you even know what you're talking about?? Jamiroquai's last CD had not one,but *FOUR* singles..."Little L","You Give Me Something","Love Foolosophy" and "Corner Of The Earth".But none of those songs were huge hits in America (the audience that they're really trying to reach).Their situation is NOT the same as MJ's,which is why they were able to work things out with Sony, while he couldn't.

Not really a fan of The Soultronics (?uestlove sucks to me and Pino plays with the soul of a slug), but I dig Roy Hargrove and D'Angelo.

You'd Be surprised at what I Know or Who I Know on certain things.Jamiroquai are done in America Pal.nobody cares about there Stevie Wonder circa 73-75 Blend Meets Donna Summer Disco&Groove vibe.they can't write no Songs anymore&they haven't evolved Musically.yes it has everything to do with MJ because if they are acting funny with MJ then you Know they ain't gonna push much for Jamiroquai.MJ had at least 5 Singles on His Last Album.it comes to Money,&Getting Push from your Label.both didn't.MJ got a Helluva Better chance with a Major Label these days than Jamiroquai.Just on Hits alone MJ last Hit in 2001.Jamiroquai Hit Here&Peaked in 97.Done&Stick a Fork in them.

I wanted to bring this thread back up again cuz I totally forgot to mention this AWESOME Latin funk band. They're called Los Amigos Invisibles and they've got 2 albums out now on David Byrne's label (Luaka Bop). I saw them live twice and they were just off the chain! Only thing is, some of their songs are en espanol (since they hail from Venezuela). But you'd be too busy getting down to their grooves anyways.

I saw 100s of copies of MJ's Invincible - which cost almost as much to make as Blair and Bush spent on flattening Iraq - in my local Music Zone for £2.

Still didn't buy it though wink

It's not great but for £2 isn't to be sniffed at, cheaper than a CD single and you're bound to like one or two songs on it.

A few of the songs on Invincible were as good as MJ gets IMO.. the publicity really snuffed the album out before it had a chance.

I didn't know Dwele was coming out so soon, that should be interesting. He did vox on a Bahamadia track I really liked... "Philadelphia"

Bilal is the real thing. Vivian is my cd of the year so far... but then I'm biased, Philly soul is just a part of me biggrin

Speaking of... Kindred's new stuff sounds pretty nice
