Michael Jackson vs Prince, music released when 20-29 years old I saw something on Facebook that seemed to suggest how amazing Michael Jackson was to release Off The Wall when 20 (in 1979), Thriller when 25 (in 1983) and Bad when 29 (in 1987). I thought only 3 albums in all that time (albeit quite iconic ones), I wonder how many Prince was involved in during this period. 1978 For You 1979 Prince (+The Rebels) 1980 Dirty Mind 1981 Controversy, The Time 1982 1999, Vanity 6, What Time Is It? (+The Hookers) 1983 1984 Purple Rain+Ice Cream Castle+Apollonia 6+Glamorous Life (+2nd Vanity 6 album) 1985 Around The World In A Day+The Family+Romance 1600 1986 Parade (+Camille) (+The Flesh) 1987 Sign O’ The Timesx2 (was going to be triple album Crystal Ball),+Jill Jones+Madhouse 8+Madhouse 16+Sheila E (+Black album) Released Prince albums: 9 - one a double album -> 10 Released side project albums (in which Prince was the main contributor): 11 Unreleased Prince/side project albums: 7 (if consider one of the sides of the triple Crystal Ball didn’t make it onto Sign O’ The Times; note most of Camille made it onto Sign or the Black album, but then I’ve not included Dream Factory, any b-sides or several songs given to other artists) Overall the number of ‘Prince’ albums, in this period, is a staggering 28! Also saw this old thread about MJ and Prince, which is probably worth a look through, if anyone has the time or inclination. https://prince.org/msg/8/...?&pg=1 There may or may not be something coming!

I doubt Michael Jackson would be willing to trade his output during this period for Prince's. And I don't think Prince would trade his for Michael Jackson's either.

Back after a long break away for this board...At first I though not another Prince vs MJ. thread. Haha. I must say nobobdy works like Prince...nobody. The older I get, the more I appreciate Prince...I still love MJs stuff. Frankly I have stopped comparing them I am just happy they were around when I was growing up and it is a pity that they are no longer with us. To All the Haters on the Internet

As someone who only really started listening to them long after they were both dead, I must admit that comparisons between them kind of confuse me a little. Other than the fact that they both enjoyed their biggest success during the same time period, I don't really understand it. Their music is completely different. Both great in their own ways but different.

I much prefer Prince (so prolific) rather than MJ.
Do "Victory" & "The E.T. Story Book" count ? "Money won't buy U happiness but it'll pay 4 the search."
