Well it's official, Beyoncé has more Grammys than anyone else with 32. razz

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I really enjoyed the show last night. I think Mary J Blige should have won just on her great performance last night. Hip Hop was also a highlight. Chris Stapleton and Stevie killed it as well. Styles winning album of the year is a joke.😂

I enjoyed last night's show as well. Stevie's performance (especially the dope ending) was great and overall enjoyed the hip hop tribute.

These shows mainly are all about the performances, mainly because anyone who wins it becomes a "This person deserved to win" fest, and "oh my god, I don't deserve this, there is no best" than why are we even having awards given out? lets just get together and perform. Music Wise there is not much I care about that gets nominated, the Grammies still has no clue its all about the charts etc...some really dumb awards they have now like best video game score, please already. And I get it video games sell they are big, then have a friggin video game award show if they are that loved. Music that is nominated for the most part to me, has nothing to do with being older, cause I know tons of new acts, indie acts, that get overlooked that are WAY better than the overproduced bland stuff, some of it is ok, most pretty boring, but again its there chance to pat themselves on the back to an industry that screws its artists more than ever now.

Best acceptance:

Lizzo!

(close second: Bonnie Rait)

My *Prince* sightings:

Lizzo, obviously dedicating her award to, well, U know.

JeLo, with her "...like Prince said 8 years ago..."

Steve Lacy with his "gemini" rant in high heels (but, he should really use that guitar correctly)

But, the one most probably don't see right away is FLAVA FLAV rockin' the '99 era Blue lamé suit!!!

It was a good, well produced show.

Fave performance: Lizzo.

I'm not mad at Harry Styles winning because I said years ago Beyonce will NEVER win a top award and that still stands.

Biggest disapppointment for me was Domi and JD Beck not winning Best New Artist but I am happy Samara Joy won. The former just wows my much more.

And any time a legend like Bonnie Raitt can upset the proceedings is always a plus.

Yeah after Stevie's performance I thought that pretty much everyone there (rappers in particular, sorry) should be embarrassed to be on the same stage.

But yeah, some nostalgia points for the giant rap medley, but it was just people yelling over beats.

Kinda but I think her surgery makes her body look crazy. This woman was flat as a board, front to back. Now she's got exaggerated hips the size of TS Madison's (and hers are botched). She must have been so unhappy with her body.

I almost started one last night.

I have to say, I was thoroughly entertained by the show. It had amazing moments. Some for me:

Brandy Carlisle - I don't really know much about her, but that was a great song. I've seen her in the interviews w/ Joni Mitchell, and she sang "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" with Elton at Dodger Stadium a couple of months ago.

Sam Smith and Kim Petras "Unholy" - I knew the church would get up in their feelings about the performance; as if the devil has a copyright on fire and red light bulbs. Also, them accepting best duo/group performance, and Kim saying she was the first transgender person to receive the award - kudos!!

Beyonce purposely thanking the QUEER community, not just the gay community was stellar.

Lizzo's performance, and nod to Prince - she vowed, after Prince died, to make positive music. Good on her. His legacy lives on.

The Hip-Hop Tribute with The Roots. My God, seemed like everyone was on that stage, even for 20 seconds at a time. So, so good.

SZA was fire, and so was Adele. Adele meeting The Rock was a great moment.

The older lady who was a super fan of Harry Stiles was such a sweet moment when Trevor Noah let her read Album of the Year.

And I think we were all as shocked as Bonnie Raitt for her winning Best Song, but kudos on her! That a song to win with, really.

I don't know who Steve Lacey is. I didn't pay attention to Bad Bunny, or the country guy.

And what the fuck Madonna???? I stopped following ol' girl on S.M. because of her fucking face. I've loved the broad since day fucking one. And she's had touch ups throughout the years. But goddamn, it's embarrassing at this point.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I am amazed at how all the 'woke' people are coming down on Madonna

All of the meme's, etc are f*cking vile and awful and uncalled for

The degree to which people think they can shit on her is revolting

(Im not saying the people on this thread are shitting on her, they are just making observations and yes, she probably went too far and it may be a shock to see her this way)

She is a human being - how the hell do people think it is OK to treat someone like that?

She has a larger than life reputation because she is clearly a strong person but she has feelings and children who see people blatantly disrespecting their mom

How would they feel if someone said this kind of stuff about their mother.

One meme has her face next to Bette Davis in What Ever Happened to Baby Jane

Another has her face next to a goblin and it goes on and on

I AM ONLY USING THIS NEXT PARAGRAPH AS AN EXAMPLE, DON'T COME FOR ME

But if I posted a picture of Lizzo next to a fat cow - I would be crucified

Of course, I never would - it is disrespectful, hurtful, cruel and wrong

I am only using this as an example

For her, we have to be 'body positive' and can't make the observation

But it is Ok to do it to someone else...

Hmmm .. gee, I wonder why

Maybe Madonna knows she screwed up and went too far.

Maybe she feels really insecure about it (hence the filters all the time), maybe she feels ugly

And what do people do? Make her feel worse

This would not be acceptable behavior if it were other people

Instead of criticizing her,,, actually, it isn't even criticism, it is hatred and cruelty

Maybe we should be asking ourselves why someone would be compelled to take such drastic measures to avoid looking older

i am disgusted at the hypocrisy

We can't criticize anyone for anything without getting cancelled but it's Ok to bash this person

Oh and while I am at it..

Dave Chappele gets a Grammy for a performace where he talks shit about trans people?

Really? ... really?

Where the f*ck is the outrage?

Apparently, I guess he is forgiven

Again... Gee, I wonder why

And Beyonce has the goddamn BALLS to thank the queer community after she performs in Dubai.
What a fucking pair of balls.. what a goddman fucking set of balls on her

Yet she is just excused! What a joke!

Where the fuck is the outrage?

And meanwhile - has their been a bigger ally than Madonna?

Ally isn't even the correct word for what she did for gay people

And even the gays bash her and laugh about it

It is sick

And once again.. Gee, I wonder why

And don't even get me started on the 'cultural appropriation' angle... anyone else would be called out.. but she cannot be touched.. Gee, I wonder why

There are unfair double-standards that I have grown so tired of

I usually keep this stuff inside but I am so saddened that people think it is OK to single someone out and humiliate them

Not to mention when the preach the exact opposite

it is no wonder Republicans think we are stupid

It looks like we are just as hollow as they are

and please pardon the edits.. typos.

For the most part, I enjoyed the show.

I agree that Lizzo was a highlight. After hearing so many people love her in her conccerts, I actually put her first album on my exercise tracklist and am really enjoy it. I think it is more the poristive force of her energy that I am drawn to than the actual songs though I do like them pretty well.

For the 3rd straight year Brandi Carlisle has given a really good performance. More impressive is that it was with three completely different types of songs. She is so talented and I really like her vibe.

Harry Styles, who by most accounts is terrific as a live performer, looked hungover/depressed/sick both in his performance and his acceptance speeches. His performance was thethargic and unispired. This is not to kick him if he is down: I thought his album was really good but his performance gave the "Beyonce deserved best album" camp ammunition.

Steve Lacey has such a chill vibe that it doesn't show off his talent on these one song and your done award shows. His creativity in his songs and music reminds ,me of Prince more than anyone else in the current musical scene. Not saying he is as talented, but even my kids told me that I better listen to him because he reminded them of Prince. He is not copying Prince at all as he has his own style. He also has been inspired by and has a mutual admiration with Lenny Kravitz.

This is why people view "hollywood" and "awards" and shows like this, as elite people patting themselves on the back. Because the left responds to TWITTER outrage, like now Harry Styles is under fire, and I am sure he will issue an apology and say HOW he hurt some people, this is why I cant evern watch this nonsense because its all BS

Apparently Harry spent the previous ten days doing five shows. I'm surprised he showed up at all. My intuition wants to say his uppers weren't upping. Definitely a by-the-numbers performance.

But days before this year's award ceremony, Variety published a tell-all piece where five Grammy voters spoke to the publication anonymously about their voting. They talked openly about why voters like them haven't supported Beyoncé for Album of the Year. "With Beyoncé," one voter said, "the fact that every time she does something new, it's a big event and everyone's supposed to quake in their shoes — it's a little too portentous."

I always go back to the David Bowie thing, guy didn't win shit when he was alive, he dies everyone gives him Grammys, so when I hear complaints after you've won 32 take a seat, whether you say it or not you need to at least shut that talk down. I get the fact that you may feel one of your albums should have been album of the year, but so did Prince with Sign o the times, he said why should I go I will just lose to U2 now that was one album prince wasn't nominated every time he put out an album for album of the year in fact he never was again. So I can't speak on beyonces recent work I really stopped listening to her awhile ago but I am going to guess all these album of the year nods were just because you are Beyoncé just like she's Adele and she is nicki M and she's Taylor etc....

It's a curious mindset.

I can't help but think of Diana Ross, who has NO grammies.

Not with The Supremes, nor her 70's work, or her 80's comeback work.

Bruce Springsteen and Prince are AOTY-less.

And Janet Jackson, the woman she owes her career to, has never won AOTY, and she was worthy three times (Control, Rhythm Nation and Velvet Rope).

So with 32, which seems excessive, there should be no complaints.

Plus I think they don't want to hand out a hundred trophies in one shot for these album-by-village nominees.

Internet/Napster/streaming did this, especially with pop/R&B categories. Like all businesses they're trying to penny-pinch assets, so why put $ into developing new artists when you can just recycle the same 5 artists? It's the same sequel/reboot philosophy that permeates the film industry.

There's a reason why Beyonce consistently works with all the biggest songwriters year after year. Nobody's even bothering to shop their songs to other artists. What other artists? Got a new songwriting prodigy? Quick, get Beyonce on the line...
