New LPs/CDs/Cassettes/Audio Files You Recently Acquired I picked up a great used copy of Marvin Gaye's "What;s Going On" today, as well as the Eagles' "Desperado" LP. Too bad Marvin Gaye's album is still as relevant today as when it came out all those years ago... What have y'all picked up recently for music that touches your soul?

π€Hectic MonthππΊπ€πΉπΈ Saw him live once In NYC Central Park and he tore it up! Read: https://www.mtv.com/news/...cert-stage I've been eyeing his greatest hits on Vinyl, but haven't bitten. Found these this month Thrift Store in B+ condition, so it was exciting to find two of his albums in great condition. First released in 67. Mine is the 76 release on another label Kory Records and different cover and sound quality is really good.π²π€ Producer β Curtis Rodgers, Palmer James Written-By β Al Green (tracks: A3), C. Rodgers* (tracks: A1, A6, B4), P. James* (tracks: A1-A2, A4, A6, B1, B5), R. Williams* (tracks: B3), T. Watkins* (tracks: A5, B2, B5) Back Up Train is Al Green's debut album, released by Hot Line Records, a label formed by Palmer James and Curtis Rodgers, high school friends of Al Green's. This album was released prior to signing with Hi Records and still lists his name as "Greene" (the actual correct spelling of his name). The title track was originally released in January 1967 as a single under the band name "Al Greene and The Soul Mates". Just Music-No Categories-Enjoy It!

π²The second one I got. B+ condition. Man these recordings are great. π€ The Belle Album is the 12th studio album by soul musician Al Green. It is his first album recorded without longtime producer Willie Mitchell, owner of Green's former label, Hi Records. With Mitchell and his label Green also abandoned the famed Hi Rhythm Section, which had previously played a large part in defining Green's distinctive musical style. This also marks the first instance in which Green plays lead guitar on his records.πΈπΈπΈ Personnel Al Green β vocals, acoustic and electric guitar Reuben Fairfax, Jr. β bass guitar, bell lyre James Bass β electric guitar Margaret Foxworth, Linda Jones, Harvey Jones β background vocals Purvis Leon Thomas β clavinet, Fender Rhodes piano Johnny Brown β acoustic piano, Fender Rhodes piano Fred Jordan β Fender Rhodes piano, Roland String Ensemble, Polyphonic Orchestration, trumpet, flugelhorn John Toney β drums, Syndrum Rob Payne β Syndrum Ardis Hardin β drums Buddy Jarrett β alto sax Darryl Neely β trumpet, flugelhorn Ron Echols β tenor and baritone sax Producer, Written-By, Arranged By, Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Guitar, Engineer [Remix] β Al Green Just Music-No Categories-Enjoy It!

Great haul, Joe Bala. I wish the still existing second hand stores still had good vinyl; I think they are picked over before putting out for sale. I do pick up good used vinyl from a guy who has been running a used record store for 30 years two blocks down but he is getting old and is going to give up the shop when the lease runs out this time... Too bad. In the meantime, discovered this "new" British band Wolf Alice, bought their new LP "Blue Weekend" which arrived the day I went to their concert. A mix of old influences and new--biggest 90s "wall of sound" shoegaze, grunge, 90s Indie Alt-Rock. They are twice as good live as on vinyl or streaming--but that says a lot because I'm really getting into their new record which came out last year "Blue Weekend." Check it out.
