Bad ticket sales = call it covid and cancel ?

Hmmm I am seeing this ALOT now. I get it covid is always going to be with us, it's the new flu etc...but some thing is fishy with some of these cancellations and venues and promoters thinking it's better to just cancel and call it covid and reschedule another day, Morris day just cancelled night before a show etc...and I see it a lot now, can't all be covid

Some acts are cancelling because of the heat.Loverboy,Parliament Funkadelic and others recently cancelled shows in outdoor venues. We're having major heatwaves in the US right now.Carlos Santana passed out because it was 114 degrees onstage at the outdoor venue he was playing at.

Loverboy just posted this message on their Facebook page:

Out of abundance of caution,Loverboy will be unable to perform this weekend in Austin,Dallas and Houston,Texas. The band looks forward to rejoining the tour on August 5 in Virginia Beach,VA.

I'm seeing similiar messages like this one from some of my other favorite bands too. This global warming thing is no joke! It's too HOT to go to any outdoor venue this summer.

as for Covid....it's still a big thing.People have to put their health first. It's a legitimate excuse to cancel a concert, imo.

Yes I know all that but there have been a few questionable instances, what I am seeing is with bands they have backups roadies that literally are ready to be plugged into a spot as to not put off a date, it’s tough sometimes to get things rescheduled and if you locked into other shows on a schedule a lot of times you need to carry a backup in case you lose the drummer bass player etc… gets tricker if you lose the lead singer then you have to cancel. But I have heard instances of promoters doing some shady stuff with low ticket sales

yeah I know there are some shady promoters out there but as far as Covid cancellations go,let's give these artists and bands the benefit of the doubt smile let's not automatically assume that they're cancelling because of low ticket sales.Covid has screwed up everything and is still continuing to do so.

Shawn Mendes recently cancelled his tour due to "mental health reasons". So at least the Covid-19 excuse isn't the de facto justification. Who else has cancelled their tours recently?

The issue with that is a whole other thing. Ticketmaster mainly is doing what it is doing because of the places like Stub Hub and a lot these ticket vendors that buy the seats OR say they bought them and then jack up the value. Granted a lot of these good seats at venues are priced insane, but they are all doing it when they play these venues that can get away with it. For me I stay away from large shows like this because even if a seat is cheap (meaning probably 50-100 bucks) I am still sitting in the nose bleed section and SORRY I stopped doing that ages ago, I can pay 100 bucks get a ticket in a small venue sit down have drinks and food and meet the artist for a chat or a photo for that money, and I never have enjoyed ONE of these shows where I was not super close in a large venue.

For several years now I have been going to a series of free concerts near where I live. This year is the worse attendance I have seen of the shows. Even last year I think was better attended.
