Too many songs to list. But my fave albums are "Come Get It", "Bustin' Out", "Street Songs", "Reflections" and even "Urban Rapsody". Strangely enough, my mom was the one who was the RJ fan..she brought home his albums while I was listening to P-Funk and this new artist named Prince. I guess I got the "RJ bug" from her. wink

My favorite albums of Slick Rick's is "Garden Of Love"(whom Rick made while entering Rehab to detox & included a song "Summer Love" with Teena Marie(whom I met & is my favorite female singer) doing background love sounds) & "Fire It Up" with the rock-funk jam "LoveGun" That's still in my Chocolate MUZIQ Box.

I remember winning tickets on the radio to the Street Songs tour. A tour a child like me had no business attending. But I had the time of my life! Then years later Teena brought Rick on her tour with her. It was a sad moment seeing where he was and then ended up. Weeks later he was gone.

I attended his viewing @ Forestlawn cemetary to show my respect.

Sorry but the first few bars of "Wild And Crazy Love" is the SICKEST shit Rick ever laid a hand on. It still leaves me absolutely speechless.

At that time, you actually heard great music on the radio. I had just finished my third year of college, and got a job as a mail clerk in Manhattan. I'd take the Long Island RR to the city, put on my headphones and listen to WBLS, KISS & WKTU on my radio...music was FIRE back then!

Exactly! Music was just so much better back then! I hate to sound like the old grandfather complaining about today’s music (lol) but we truly had better music back then.We had JAMS! Real funk grooves! Nothing today even comes close.

The big difference is, we didn't have to go underground to find great music...it was all over radio.

I'm an avid gamer, and Grand Theft Auto is one of my favorites. Someone at RockStar Games must love Rick James, because they use his songs in most of the GTA series.

...and that list doesn't include the Mary Jane Girls "All Night Long" (Vice City), and Eddie Murphy's "Party All the Time" (GTA V), both produced by Rick.

interestingly,Rick James' debut album Come Get It was released in April 1978....the exact same month that Prince's debut album For You was released biggrin I remember going with my mother to the record store and one of the things she bought was the 45 single of "You And I".We couldn't get enough of that jam!
