They did not think of the afterparty - the chilled out versions of Stereo MCs "Frozen" and Kruger & Dorfmeister "Nothing really matters" would have been dope to see on this release...

I love them cool

Well, the songs are included in the set, just not in the remix versions mentioned above. There were various remixes at that time of each song...

To my knowlegde, the Kruder & Dorfmeister remix was only available on vinyl 12'' - so it would have been great to have them... they are available on YouTube, but it would have been great on here...

Excited for this release however it is BEYOND WEIRD that they have the ANGEL single cover in the top right corner and list Angel/Into The Groove in the writing but do not include the song in the package. WEIRD. And its one of my fave 80s Madonna songs.. le sigh.

That's how she writes. She's just old and started shaking.

lol…I think she is trying to keep it at 50 but that is still no excuse for leaving out “Causing A Commotion”.She always ignores that song.”Angel” is one of my favorites too.

Question for everyone: what is your favorite Madonna dance track?

For me,it’s “Music”.That song is so addictive! I have always considered it to be a tribute/homage to those early 80s electrofunk jams like “Freak-A-Zoid” by Midnight Star.Very hypnotic groove.

“Into The Groove” is a close second on my list.

“Get Together” from COADF is another favorite.

Not a fan of either artwork, she seems to like fan art these days which is cool but I miss the work of Jeri Heiden and Kevin Reagan. Glad she is celebrating her accomplishments in the charts, pretty happy with most of the mix selections and the few rarities that are included. Not including Causing A Commotion seems a bit wrong but I get that they released the 12” mixes recently. I’ve ordered pretty much every format, exciting that her remixes will be on Spotify as well!

Madonna talks about her new "Frozen" remix,DM-ing producers,AfroBeats and making 'Ray Of Light'

Madonna & Sickick - F... - YouTube

By Mike Wass

Never one to rehash the past, Madonna is taking a two-pronged approach to celebrating the 40th anniversary of her debut album — nodding to the past with two career-spanning remix collections, while remaining rooted in the present by remixing Sickick’s mega-viral reimagining of “Frozen.”

For the third and final iteration, dubbed “Frozen on Fire,” Madonna added new lyrics to the song and invited the masked producer to contribute his own vocals. The result is a trap-tinged adventure that rounds out a trilogy of free-wheeling remixes that began with an Afrobeats overhaul, featuring Nigeria’s Fireboy DML, and then a genre-blurring collaboration with New Jersey’s 070 Shake.

While Sickick tinkered with “Frozen” independently, Madonna was quick to realize its potential. “I saw the effect it was having on people, that it was inspiring people to make these incredible videos,” she says in reference to the song’s popularity on TikTok. “I just thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be cool to reinvent the song?’

“My lucky number is three,” Madonna says. So she set about curating three remixes from artists that come from different genres, nationalities, and backgrounds. “I wanted to show how accessible the song is, how relevant you can make it depending on who’s doing their spin on it,” she says, so an Afrobeats artist was at the top of her list.

“I live in a very musical household and we’ve lived all over the world,” Madonna says. “I have a lot of African staff that live in my house. Some are Nigerian, some are from the Congo, some are from Ghana. We were already listening to Afrobeats before it suddenly became super popular, which was just shocking to all of us.” So she decided to reach out to Fireboy DML in the most modern way imaginable: “I DM’ed him.”

“I’m probably one of the very few people that uses DMs to actually work with people,” Madonna quips. “But I always have to preface the DM with, ‘I realize this is a really shit way to try and connect with somebody, unprofessional possibly, to work together.’” However, no one leaves Madonna unread. “I always get good responses.” As for 070 Shake? That was facilitated by mutual friend Mike Dean.

“He always plays music for me,” Madonna explains. “We would put Shake on in the car. I really love her music and I wanted to work with a female.” There was another reason for selecting the young Eminem collaborator, who has a new album coming on Def Jam next week. “I also wanted to represent the LGBTQ community,” she says. “And I just thought Shake was a really good choice for the second one.” When it came time for remix number three – AKA “Frozen on Fire” – Sickick put his hand up.

“I was thinking of other artists initially, but then I said, ‘Okay, let me hear what you got,’” Madonna says. “So he sent me his version of the song and I was blown away by it.” Not only was she impressed by his voice and songwriting prowess, she also appreciated the symmetry. “It was all a pleasant surprise for me,” she says. “To come full circle with the person who created the remix in the first place.”

When asked if she enjoys the new, anything-goes musical landscape where projects are seemingly completed and released in real time, Madonna doesn’t hesitate. “It’s refreshing for me because I’ve been doing this for so long,” she says. “There’s a formula — [you] work on a record for six months to a year, then mixing it and making videos and marketing it and then releasing it and then going on tour to support it. And it’s a lot of work.”

“And I don’t have any problem with a lot of work,” she emphasizes. “I love to work, but it just takes so long in between records. It’s great to work on an album and spend time creating a masterpiece, but I love the instant gratification of doing something and just putting it out.” Unsurprisingly, working on the “Frozen” remixes sparked nostalgia. “I realized that ‘Frozen’ is a brilliant song,” she says. “I don’t want to sound arrogant, but it’s timeless.”

“It comes from my ‘Ray of Light’ record, which I’m really proud of,” Madonna continues. “It was a turning point in my life. I made that record when I had just given birth to my daughter, my first child. Life looked so different to me and I’ll never be the same. It was a watershed moment.” Her memories of the “Frozen” recording session are less specific. “I just remember how all the songs I write with Pat Leonard begin with me sitting next to him playing the piano.”

From 1982’s “Everybody” to 2022’s “Frozen” remixes, the one constant in Madonna’s iconic career is the hold she has on clubland. “It’s my first love, I left home to become a dancer,” she says. “I had no intention of ever becoming a singer, making records, but things just happened and opportunities presented themselves to me. At one point I was like, ‘Oh my God, all those years, I wasted dancing and all those dance classes and all the blood, sweat and tears.’”

Ultimately, however, she realized her affinity with movement was a super power. “I use it in all of my work,” Madonna says. “So much of my music is about dancing. That’s my connection to club music. It’s been important to me all my life.”

Madonna Talks New 'Frozen on Fire' Remix and Planning a 'Magical Experience' for Upcoming Birthday

Madonna Talks New 'Frozen...PEOPLE.com

Madonna

The music icon chats with PEOPLE about breathing "new life" into her 1998 hit "Frozen," the making of her upcoming remix album and birthday planning

By Brianne Tracy

May 20, 2022 04:10 PM

Madonna is the queen of reinventing herself — but that doesn't mean she wants to leave her old classics behind.

On Thursday, the music icon, 63, released "Frozen on Fire," a remix of her 1998 hit "Frozen," with the artist Sickick. The remix —which features fresh vocals from Madonna and verses sung by Sickick — is the fourth iteration of "Frozen" to be made since the DJ first reinvented the song in 2021.

"I think what's special about this version is that Sickick is singing on it," Madonna tells PEOPLE. "I didn't actually think of him as a singer or a musician or a songwriter or anything. I thought of him as a DJ. So, when it was presented to me that he wanted to do his version, I was kind of skeptical at first. But then when I heard it, I was blown away by his musicianship, by his sense of musicality, by his melody, his singing, everything."

"When I ended up going in the studio with him and recording with him, I thought, 'This makes perfect sense to end with him because he started it, the remix,'" she continues. "He has a fantastic voice. When I first heard it, I thought it was The Weeknd."

Madonna first came across Sickick's 2021 remix of "Frozen" when people started making videos to it on TikTok.

"I was like, 'Hey, wait a minute. What is this? This is my song,'" she recalls. "It all happened by divine inspiration, I guess, because then once I heard them, I wanted to make more of them and do new versions of them that had different people singing on them and doing their take on it."

Since the initial remix, which has soundtracked nearly one million TikTok videos to date, Madonna and Sickick have released a version of the track with Nigerian singer Fireboy DML in March and a version with New Jersey's 070 Shake in April.

As to whether she could've imagined "Frozen" would be as popular as ever more than two decades after its original release, Madonna says, "I had absolutely no idea, but I'm pleasantly surprised!"

"It's fantastic," she says. "The original song is great. The video is great and what's happening with it now is great. Like I said, I feel like it's come full circle and it has a new life and it has a new kind of relevancy."

Given that TikTok is now a huge force in driving streaming and sales numbers, Madonna says she's learned to adjust to the trend.

"I come from the world [where you] spend years working on a record and releasing, and it goes in cycles," she says. "So you put a record out every three years or something like that, and it's an enormous amount of work. There's good sides and bad sides of TikTok. You know? But to me, the good side is that you don't have to wait so long to release something."

"You can put something out and you can have an audience instantly and you can get feedback instantly and you don't need a whole huge marketing machine," she adds. "You get people telling you right away whether something's working or not. So it's great to have a new way to get music out."

"Frozen on Fire" is just the start of what's to come for Madonna in 2022. On Aug. 19, she plans to release Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones, a 50-track remix collection that explores her dominance on the Billboard Dance Club chart for more than 40 years. (A 16-track version of the album is due out June 24.)

To put together the project, "I had to listen to a lot of remixes and take a trip down memory lane," she says. "I was also reminded of how different production was then than it is now, with real drums and analog production technology, to now digital technology. Everything's done in Logic or Pro Tools on a computer. You don't even have to be in a recording studio."

"So from where I started, making music in my apartment on the Lower East Side, and then having to go to a recording studio to record it, to where I am now and how I've been working, it was a good lesson on how music has changed and the way we make music has changed, the way we listen to music has changed," she continues. "It was kind of historical education, listening to my own remixes."

When she looks back on her musical catalog, Madonna says she has moments where she's "astonished" at all the work that went into her career.

"I remember things and I remember moments in time of where I was when I made that record and what producer was I working with and what studio was I in and what city was I in and what was going on in my life," she says. "I mean, I've been very blessed to have the career that I've had, so it's nice to be able to look back at my catalog of music and have that experience."

Just three days before Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones' release, Madonna will celebrate her birthday on Aug. 16. In honor of turning 64, she plans to host an extravaganza just as special as last year's celebration in Italy.

"I always have to do something special and unique on my birthday and go somewhere that I've never been before and create a magical experience, not only for myself and my children, but for my friends," she says. "So I'm still hashing that one out. It's between two places, but I don't want to say where because I don't want to jinx myself — and I also don't want everybody to go there and get a hotel room!"

Though the plans are under wraps for now, Madonna promises that like with so much of her career, "I'll take everyone on the journey with me."

Some are saying the "compression" or levels sound off on the Deeper & Deeper Remix. They do to an extent but I think the people saying these things do not consider the different production styles of that early 90s era, sure there was heavy bass but not in comparison to modern heavy bass. I think the new version of Deeper & Deeper sounds fantastic, I just wish the edit didn't cut out my favorite part towards the end.
