RSD exclusive: Roy Ayers second album 'Virgo Vibes'
Long before becoming an icon of funk, acid jazz, and R&B, Roy Ayers was a promising young jazz vibraphonist. Originally released in 1967, Virgo Vibes was Ayers’ second album, and his debut for Atlantic. The LP features five cool, funky jazz tracks, featuring musicians such as Joe Henderson, Charles Tolliver, Bruno Carr, Jack Wilson and the mysterious pianist Ronnie Clark (Herbie Hancock playing under a pseudonym). The music is primarily hard bop, infused with the relaxed and sunny vibe that defined Ayers’ stellar career.

even the mighty Santana has a new release for Record Store Day on Saturday
Splendiferous is a new 2LP compilation, personally curated by Carlos Santana, showcasing highlights drawn from Santana's musical output spanning 2003-2019. It focuses on the too-often-underappreciated yet creatively fertile period following Santana's 1998 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the massive success of the 1999 album Supernatural. In its wake, Santana released a series of remarkable recordings, among them 2003's Shaman, 2005's All That I Am and 2014's Corazón, that stand with the best that Carlos, or his band, have ever made. Many of these songs and performances were overlooked at the time of their release and are being presented anew on Splendiferous, as essential musical elements in the Santana canon.

yes the PRINCE is not till June's RSD along with a Pearl Jam, the orders so far on both I have heard are through the roof. They are also expecting this to be the biggest selling RSD yet, mainly because of the variety, not because of any particular release, but just the amount of artists and the volume coming out, also expect to see higher prices on some things. But some of what I am getting is all over the map, Debbie Gibson, Night Ranger, the Pretty Reckless (this actually was technically not a RSD listed item), the two Bowie EPS, Madonna, Summer and also the U2, Elton John "thom Bell Sessions", there is a great Joan Jett also, and a release that some are sleeping on but dont, Sheena Easton 12" mixes compilation, and the 7" releases from Taylor Swift (these will be rare are hard to obtain) and also a Foo Fighters 7" single, not much was thought of this one, prior to the passing of Taylor Hawkins, but now this has become more in demand.

Sheena Easton The Definitive 12" Singles 1983-1987
• Her first-ever collection of 12” extended mixes - pressed on pink double-vinyl and featuring her 1980s US Top 10 pop hits “Telefone (Long Distance Love Affair)”, ‘Strut” and “Sugar Walls”. Having rocketed to fame in the UK in the early ‘80s, Sheena quickly established herself as an international star, where her genre-crossing approach resulted in her being the only artist in US history to score top 3 hits in each of Billboard’s main charts: Hot 100, R&B, Dance, AC and Country. As part of Cherry Red’s on-going reissue campaign of the star’s EMI catalogue, this collection focuses on Sheena’s huge success on the US club charts and features 6 US top 40 Dance hits in their full 12” extended mixes, including the controversial Prince-penned #1 ’Sugar Walls’. Released on vinyl exclusively for Record Store Day. Side A Side B Side C Side D *Previously unreleased track

Good choice. I may visit my independent record store. I see a Staples Singers album I'm interested in represssed on 180 gram vinyl but no way in hell I'm shelling out 29.98 for a new vinyl album. Don't laugh at my funk

I get the issue with the prices for sure, I mean in the beginning I didnt even buy any vinyl when it all became a THING agai, then there were a few RSD where I wanted favorite bands/singers and this was the only way to get them, a-ha duran duran and Billy Joel and Pearl Jam and the foo fighters were the first I bought and rarely any RSD did i get more than 3 things if even, but since those RSD drops because of COVID I found myself getting a bunch more and this one here I got 10, and I had four others but allocations etc...and some stores got royally screwed withe releases which happens all the time. And yes Pricing is a huge issue, but I get why this is happening, most of these pressings now take so much time, and always it seems now there is a color involved which takes more time, its a little different then the days of the simple print 100,000 copies and ship them to stores, standard stuff etc..But also in the last few years I found myself supporting artists direct too, and many are into the vinyl and tend to get this rather than a cd mainly because there is a download card or they are available on streaming so i have it that way, I find ripping cds to Apple or whatever is something I havent done in ages so I really have shyed away from getting cds anymore, UNLESS a lot of times with reissues and these elaborate box sets, I cant do these 300 dollars on a vinyl box to hear DEMOS and studio banter, that is where I draw the line, for that like a Prince Sign O The times I went cd on that and then just got a vinyl copy of that standard album when issued, but when supporting artists now with these color vinyls and autographed stuff I tend to invest it there rather than going for the cd.

I basically got what I was thinking I was going to get, in years past I went for something and it was sold out or whatever and then got something else, but this year outside of the issue that went on with Taylor Swift but thats a 7" single with one song done twice so thats not a big deal I do feel bad for her die hards because people who got their hands on them are going to flip them for big $$ right now on ebay I am seeing prices from 250-500 dollars at least for that and I understand her team re allocated the same amount to every store to be fair, 12 copies in most cases but you know a lot of people got their hands on it to make the huge money. EBAY and RSD have a "block" going on but once RSD passes ebay lets it go. So I wound up with things I expected like Elton, Joan Jett, Madonna (i was on the fence with her), Donna summer, and the bowies and Night Rangers 7" and I had to get the Sheena Easton just to have all that in one spot, though there are some songs that also could have made it, its a great buy.
