2022 Nominees for Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame by Andy Greene | February 2, 2022 | Rolling Stone The nominations for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2022 are in, and the list features Eminem, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Duran Duran, Beck, Pat Benatar, Carly Simon, A Tribe Called Quest, Kate Bush, Devo, Judas Priest, Eurythmics, Fela Kuti, MC5, New York Dolls, Rage Against the Machine, and Dionne Warwick. The top vote-getters will be announced in May and inducted in the fall. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I don't see that happening, especially as long as Jann Wenner is in charge. The only member who seemed to have much interest in this was Peter Tork and he passed 3 years ago. I think they should at least put Mike Nesmith in as an influence in since he's kinda responsible for MTV happening and also one of the originators of country rock.
Weren't you one of those who thoought the Commodores should be inducted? Well here's one of them. As always a lot of humorous comments i have seen across media about the nominees, and as always I think people forget there is a difference in a nominee and getting in, this is just phase one. The fan voting is always a plus and something the RRHOF added in, but lets be real, its the overall top 5 that get one vote, so the fans vote counts as ONE overall vote. My problem with a lot of who votes for many years had hatred towards and 80's artists, they still do, and also many had hate for 70's artists who had fame in the 80's and on. I mean a great example of the Latter would be Chicago, that band based on what they did in the 70's should have been first ballot IN, Chicago didnt get in till 2016 almost 50 years after their first album and the reason was basically because of their 80's work, the ballads, same can be said of HEART and their you have the best rock female vocalist not even considered for years. Now it is interesting to see The Eurythmics finally get some mention and Duran Duran is LONG overdue to be on here, now celebrating 40 years after their first record, I dont think people realize HOW duran paved the way for most of the 80's artists in the HOF. First of all DURAN are the ones that put VIDEO into clubs, Nick Rhodes way back in the late 70's went to clubs and they all had these big screens with nothing on them or just showing shapes and designs and he thought what a waste, and DURAN were into the glam scene Bowie is an idol of theirs, so they made these films for clubs to play, some at them explicit (for those days), this was going on just as this MTV thing was starting so that marriage began and depending on who you talk too, I feel DURAN put MTV on the map because the requests to see them were overwhelming at that station, DURAN was on craze level of the Beatles in 1964, no artist has come close since. SO for me Duran were pioneers of the video age, and sorry but without Video you dont have Madonna, Prince, MJ getting to levels they got too, and then all that came after those three all benefited from video, yes the music was great, BUT you had to have a video then, had to, now its not what it was and doesnt really matter or have weight that it did because everyone is in their musical box now that video is not a promotional tool by any means as music has lost its selling appeal. And then dont get me started how bands like Depeche Mode and the Cure are in before Duran, its almost as crazy as the Go Gos and Joan Jett being in before Pat Benatar. As for other nominees like the Eurythmics I always have said this band is overlooked on two major aspects, Dave as a producer and Annie as one the most soulful voices of her generation, when Aretha wants to sing with you, shit you got soul. Dolly Parton has gotten a funny reaction, most thought she was in already, well she is in every possible one, and since the RRHOF is inducting various genres is country even represented? to my knowledge she would be the first, but Willie and Kenny two others that should be in for wide appeal they have had. Lionel Richie, I mean for a time this was a guy who was as big as Prince Michael and Madonna, and he may not get music on the radio anymore unless its classics, but he is beloved by many. I am not a big Judas Preist fan but I know there are die hards that hate how they are always overlooked. And PAT I always felt she deserved to be in there year one, and it literally took her fifteen years after her eligibility to get a mention and then she fell off the ballot again, how you have the ROCK N ROLL hall of fame and the biggest solo rock female NOT in there? again its probably that 80's thing rearing its ugly head with biased voters.

I don't know about any of the others, but they're definitely putting in Eminem. Especially since years ago RS said he was the "King Of Hip Hop". I don’t understand why Pat Benatar keeps getting ignored. She was basically the queen of 80s rock.

She is the queen of Rock N' Roll. I associate Pat more with Rock than I do Tina. For me, Tina is R&B first, Rock second. That's why I call her the Queen of Rock N' Soul. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley
