R. Kelly Found Guilty
Kelly sat absolutely still as the foreperson gave the jury's verdict to Judge Ann Donnelly.

Sad day for music, not so much so for R. Kelly personally. A talented guy who’s ego and issues have done him in, and he may die in prison for it.
It’s hard to believe that in 2001/2002, many people thought the whole thing was “funny” or it was just a case of groupies with fake IDs. They were selling the tape on sidewalks in Chicago. Two decades later and nobody is laughing. What’s sad is that he added many more victims to his list until he was arrested. Arrests, a public sex tape, a trial… he made it through all of it, but the only lesson he learned was that he was invisible. Until now, he was his own worst enemy. [Edited 9/27/21 13:48pm]

R. Kelly provided so much music that make up the soundtrack of my younger years, but God knows he's going where he deserves. A sad situation. [Edited 9/27/21 13:55pm]

Yes I also enjoyed his music back in the day, not at all anymore. What a shame he went down this path

The sampling of evidence on yesterday was shocking and appalling. I can no longer apply the term "genius" or even acknowledge the talent level of someone that was so thoroghly cruel to young women.

I'm one of those people who never lets a person's personal life impact my enjoyment of their work. That said, I never liked R Kelly's music anyway. And I'm glad he's now getting what he deserves.

He's dodged the bullet for this long and it finally caught up to him. The dude will always be a seminal figure in music but justice is finally being served.

[Edited 9/27/21 13:48pm] I was stationed in Chicago in 2001 thru 2004. I recall the girl that worked in the same building with me had a copy of that infamous video of R.Kelly and some girl. There was this one pic circulating around that looked like R.Kelly with his face in some girls butt. I was never a Kelly fan but that darn Chocolate Factory was banging!

If he's guilty of these acts he should get some serious time but I can't help but wonder if R.Kelly was still at the height of his fame would this outcome had been the same ?

. Like THAT classic episode of The Boondocks, Season 1.

And lets not forget fellow orgers that Robert Kelly was also a victim of sexual abuse. One of his mother's female friend molested him. . THAT is exactly how the cycle began.

From what I understand he's not going to jail for the sex crimes but other criminal activity. There are still charges pending in other states, it ain't over. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

Justice is served. The evidence was horrific and compelling. It will only hurt the BLM cause if people pick this example as proof of racial injustice. Instead, it will turn more people off from understanding or believing real examples of systemic racism. If as another post indicated that he was the victim of sexual abuse as well, then it is a shame that he never sought the help he obviously needed and kept on victimizing others. Yes, he may had been worried that the word might get out that he was being treated, but with his bank account he surely could of kept it to a very small circle of people in the know. In fact, it turned out way riskier and damaging that he did not get treatment.

Accusators claiming they were raped for like 5 years because they wanted a career. 5 years is a relationship, not a casual rape. Sounds like the Weinstein trial. Some accusators here are as unhealthy as him. They were all willing to have sex with R Kelly from the start, even if they were underaged, which is disgusting. They were interested in R Kelly because he had fame and money. If they had the career R Kelly promised them, they wouldn't have accused this weirdo of anything.

What do their problems have to do with how he conducted himself? The last I heard was one is responsible for the deeds in their own body. This excusing extremely gross behavior because the other person has a problem is an anvil around the neck of progression. Allowing waste to have a seat at the table hogging up everything and turning everything foul. There a reason you remove rotted apples away from the good ones. We keep acting like talent and success can only be for the rotted. [Edited 10/2/21 11:00am] Time keeps on slipping into the future...

Like I said some of them are making excuses for this turd's behavior. Sure if there were enablers that help cover up some of his dirt they should be held responsible too but to try to turn this into racial injustice and bring up Weinstein, Elvis{who has been dead since I was in Elementary school), Woody Allen, and Jerry Lee Lewis into the discussion is ridiculous. I haven't heard of or know of any whites excusing Weinstein's behavior. When people try to excuse Kelly's behavior it seems more like they are being fans blinded by the truth. It's bad that he was molested as a child but it didn't seem to affect him while he was making millions and abusing young black girls. Don't laugh at my funk

It's a statistic cold fact that rapists were also mostly a former victim in their childhood. So it's not extraordinary. What is, is that he doesn't know how to write and read.

If those were teenage white girls he was going after, his career would have been a wrap in 04. The fact that he dodged justice for this long is due to that.
