I don't think Boy George is over rated. I think he is overrated, and he's a punk. But his voice, especially back in the day, was silky goodness.

Bieber

Chris Brown

anyone from Jodeci (fite me)

Sisqo

Bob Dylan

DHANNI HARRISON (as if he's relevant enough to be considered for a list)

Tom Petty

Usher

Miguel

Jermaine Jackson

Marilyn Manson (WTF even)

Trent Reznor (really?)

David Bowie*

Some rock singers, like Meat Loaf, Jon Bon Jovi, or Steven Tyler are hard to categorize because rock singers aren't always singers. They can carry a note, but there's a lot of grunting, growling, huffin' and puffin'.

* With Bowie, there are reasons why. He's not overrated as an artist. He once said he got into music because he saw it as a way to make art. He wasn't a particularly great singer. However, his voice - just as his voice - had a great tone to it whether talking or whatever. He knew how to manipulate it and did more of that over the years. Of course, I think that's part of his appeal to people. Interesting and weird songs, with that voice. So, as a sanger he was overrated, but not as an artist in general (whether singing, videos, tour concepts (he practically created stadium tours as we know them now), clothing, etc). I still enjoy him more and more as the years pass.

I don't know if anyone has accused Dylan of being a particularly good singer. His talent has always been as a songwriter.

I wasn't aware that Boy George was rated as anything but a singer. He's overrated as a human being? Huh?

Totally add this to my list. His production and music is interesting. His voice feels dry (?).

GOD YES! And it's why I made the note about rock band singers, and how often times they're more growl-y than singers. One would have a laundry list and then some if they started to include people like that. But I don't know that anyone ever carried the torch of Axl being some vocal phenom.

No, Axl sings good for the kind of music he does.

Bob Dylan is a great singer. Uniqueness is a key in singing.

PJmcGee nailed this response. As great as a songwriter Dylan is,I'll have to take people's word or indulge covers because his singing voice is SO unlistentable to me.

i think rock is hard and very serious style of music when it comes to singing.Trivial may i ask for your opinion on singing on these songs:

1) Love Def Leppard, but I hate that song, and the vocal harmonies. Joe certainly pulls it off, though.

2) Scorpions had a good lead singer, but their music was just horrible. He went really high on his notes. I only like "Rock You Like A Hurricane" and, more, "Tease Me, Please Me," because there was a ridiculously hot guy in the video.

3) I have no love, interest, opinion, or otherwise for Ronnie James Dio's voice, music, career, life.

4) I don't know much about Rainbow, but that song is good. Joe Lynn Turner has a good voice. Sorta reminds me of Joe Elliott, in some ways.

"No one songs Dylan like Dylan". That was a slogan in the 1960s. Anyway, lists like these are pointless; it's just people naming singers that they don't like.
If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am.

If it's about grunting and humming, then you could just as easily say that James Brown wasn't a singer.

i agree wih many listed already.

i would add the omnipresent Khalid. He isn't terrible, but certainly doesn't have a voice that would warrant his massive chart success and the fact that so many better singers are doing duets with him (Alicia, H.E.R., etc.).

Khaled is not a singer, and has never sung a note on any record...he's a DJ who talks here and there over the songs...much like radio DJs do...because thats how he got his start in Miami in the music industry

Not the same person. Not DJ Khaled, but Khalid
