Yeah, true. It was a mishmash of stuff. Cute, but not a true video album as we know them now. And really, other artists were sorta doing that. Videos, interviews, all put together on a VHS. No real proper track-by-track type video albums of course.

It's sorta odd when you think about it - video was still such a huge medium for music artists to have their music seen on places like MTV, VH1, and BET. Why no one really capitalized on that is a mystery. People weren't even putting moments of silence at the beginning of a video until "Beat It." And they all certainly stood up and took notice with "Thriller."

Different times. Where would you show that shit? As if MTV would clog up their airtime with showing 75 minute video albums. And how would you make money with that?

Teddy Riley really took the album to another level. Bryan Loren just wasn't going to cut it.

Who Is It had already been cut short(!). MJs engineers often told him his songs lasted too long towards the end, but MJ liked it when it was long, and was always upset to cut his songs in order to stand in one CD. [Edited 5/25/21 4:08am]

I like long songs, when there is actually something happening.

I feel Who Is it just repeats itself for minutes. for me it takes away the tension of the song.

Did anyone buy the 1xLP picture disc vinyl of Dangerous from about ten years back?

To make all the songs fit on one vinyl, most of the songs got an early fade.

That might be the answer to someone's listening experience.

God those are some long ass tracks where the programming just keeps looping.

Solo, he released albums so infrequently that I'm grateful for what he gave us.

I actually took out the intro on mine. When I ripped the CD, I went in and edited "Black or White" to remove the skit at the beginning.

I wouldn't mind the video version of "Remember The Time" as well with the breakdown inserted, but the song the same otherwise.

I've always been disappointed that "Heal The World" was pushed so hard as a single, when a full on gospel jam like "Keep The Faith" falls by the wayside.

I also thought "Give In To Me" should've been a bigger single, maybe with a different mix with someone like Vernon Reid doing a solo. Janet did that with "Black Cat." There are a few different versions of that song, and there's a longer one with Reid doing a blazing solo.

I remember some years ago in this forum someone described this album as simultaneously his best and worst album.
