Michael jackson related questions I have some questions for the MJ fans on here. 1.What is everyone here's opinion of the "Moonwalker" film? I watched it earlier tonight after maybe 7 years of not seeing it. I saw it countless times as a kid but now as a adult I must say Moonwalker is one crazy film. I do like it however and it is truly unique. 2.what is up with the crazy stuff happening in the breakdown of the "Smooth criminal'performance? I mean with the dancers and MJ moaning and stomping there feet for 5 minutes? 3.I want Born in the 70's so I missed out on the Jacksons-Aninated Series. Is it worth seeking out now days? Does MJ and his brothers actually voice their characters? 4.I dont think MJ made quite as much music as Prince.I think the last album of newly original material we got was 2014 album "Xscape"?? What is the hold up with more MJ albums being released? Better yet,is there a lot left to be released?? Only thing I can think that I would love to see is a Victory tour concert or any MJ concerts before 1987. Please let me know your thoughts

I think there is definitely still enough quality material for two to three decent posthumous albums from MJ>

No, but one of The Sylvers does a voice for the J5 cartoon, I think for Marlon. Diana Ross did her own voice for the first episode. The Osmonds did their own voices for their cartoon that was out around the same time and I think both were made by the same company. The Jackson 5ive cartoon was on a dvd/blu ray set a few years ago, the first time it has ever been officially released on home video, but it went out of print. So it might be costly to buy now. I bought it when it came out at Best Buy. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Moonwalker is a terrible film but a time capsule of the 80s! With great music Mj didn't make anywhere near as much material as prince I don't think MJ was a virgin as the crotch grab and that weird moaning in smooth criminal is so so sexual... It's very strange indeed. That club is club 30s that's why the kids couldn't enter.. Maybe it's how he planned on spending his 30s! I don't think he was a paedo or gay I think he liked ladies...

Moonwalker was my point of entry into MJ fandom. That was not a film proper, but a cool way to digest his music and pique your curiosity with the snippets of songs you may not have heard. I didn't own any MJ records then so it put me on a quest to find obscure Jacksons records. That breakdown in Smooth Criminal does something for me. It's a shame nobody ever asked him about that. What inspired him to do that? MJ had some crazy creative ideas. Looks like those folks caught some kind of freaky spirit. As far as what's left to be released, if one is to go by the IRS vs Estate case court documents, very little. Who knows? I'm intrigued by MJs remake of Hot Fun in the Summertime.

Bad is my favourite era, but I found I enjoyed Moonwalker more when I was in my teens and early 20s. That middle section in smooth criminal is kind of weird, but I believe it had to do with ecstatic dance and free movement though no one else has said that. I bought the dvds of Jackson 5 cartoons but didn’t get through it cause I found the series boring, and prefer the music and performances of theirs over the cartoon. I hope the estate decides to release another album, that would be great

The guy who choreographed Smooth Criminal must know sth about that middle section. Vincent Patterson, that's his name.

I like the cartoon. But I had seen it already because a local channel used to show reruns of it in the 1980s like MTV showed reruns of The Monkees. It's kind of like the typical Saturday morning cartoon of that time. Maybe the Cartoon Network/Nickolodeon generation might find it boring. I think I may have enjoyed it as a kid cause I’m a fan of 80s and early 90s cartoons, but the kind of cartoons I like as an adult have foul humour so it just wasn’t my thing though I really wanted to like them

What I really want is the variety show. The routine where all of the siblings (- Jermaine) were dancing with the Nicholas Brothers is one of my favorites. Somebody gave me a DVD of the show, but it's bootleg and it has a TV logo from some European TV network on all of the episodes. That's obviously something recorded in modern years because networks didn't have logos on the shows back then. I think that started sometime in the 1990s. Yeah. In '93/"94ish it was shown on german TV channel Sat 1, which goes to show the starpower of Michael Jackson that a, at this point, almost 20 year old, english language program was shown on german TV.

I would love to see that in full one day

I have heard MJ recorded 30 tracks for Bad and pick 10-11 for inclusion on the album so one would think there are at least 100 tracks of original material unreleased. I recall reading a George Clinton interview years before Mike's death where he says Mike is funky and the funkiest stuff by MJ hasn't been released. I personally wouldn't mind hearing his studio version of songs he wrote for other artist.

As a kid, I liked the moonwalker movie, now I find it just weird and the best part of it is the Man in the Mirror performance at the start. I also always liked the ending part with these guys dancing ( i hope you know what part I mean ), I don't know what it has to do with the rest of the movie, but it's incredibly calming.

1.) The movie is more like a bunch of music videos as short films. There's kind of a plot to the movie but it's weak.
2.) That's just MJ's idea of building up the song.
3.) Never watched the animated series. Don't know much about it. Never really had any interest.
4.) No, he didn't make as much as Prince, but he did still make a lot. Prince left a vault. MJ just kind of left things scattered. There's enough material for another couple albums. The most material is probably from the BAD era. There's stuff that the die-hard fan base would LOVE to hear and think is great, but the casual fan wouldn't listen to more than once. And that's the problem as the Estate is more concerned about how they can make the most money and demos that just weren't strong enough to make albums are not among the most money making ventures.

Yeah, and as that it is good: Man in the Mirror live Leave me alone Speed Demon Smooth criminal long version Come together live It may be a failure as a movie, but it works as compilation of videos.

The "movie" is something I've watched once. Naturally I liek his music videos tho. "Smooth Crimina: performance. Only MJ knows. He did some weird thinsg LOL. Never watched the animated series. MJ's vault is said to be mostly incomplete songs. There's believed to be a couple maybe 3 albums worth but I doubt there will be another album...which bums me out. Xscape was great. First single was Top 10 and didn't need Justin Timberflake but second single fizzled so the project had a short shelf life. No way it turned the profit they hoped. 'Tis a shame.

Without looking it up I think the Moonwalker movie and music videos were done BEFORE the BAD album was released because IIRC, MJ went right on Tour after the album was released.

Yeah, it was filmed in 86/87 at least smooth criminal was. I feel like speed demon and leave me alone we’re filmed later though, basing it on his looks

Yeah, you might be right. The one thing about MJ is if you're really a fan, you know what year it is by just seeing what he looks like

September 12, 1987: The Bad World Tour starts in Tokyo October 29, 1988: Moonwalker released January 27, 1989: The Bad World Tour ends in Los Angeles. (It was delayed due to vocal strains, and a few shows rescheduled, should've ended in 1988 originally) Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.
