Jimmy G. & the Tackheads (George Clinton side project)

Jimmy G. & the Tackheads is one of George Clinton's least known side projects. Released in 1984 on Capitol Records, I believe I learned about the record in a Greg Tate review in the Village Voice. It soon became one of my favorite albums in a period that was all about Michael Jackson and Prince. If it had come out a few years before it might've been a big hit, instead it fell through the cracks. Oh...Jimmy G. was George Clinton's brother and the album was co-produced by trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist Steve Washington, formerly of Slave. https://www.waxpoetics.co...-tackheads

I used to have this album back in the day. I listen to a couple of tracks on Spotify

Clockwork and Always Break My Heart. I remember when the latter broke out on radio.

The record store owner told me the album had been out awhile but the song had just started

getting airplay.

Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint
