In what possible way could this album be considered a "sellout"? For starters it's her third major label album, and secondly it's not like her last album sounded anything like Marry Me, or Actor, or even Strange Mercy. Ugh, kill this thread. | |

I imagine St. Vincent is going to explore many different sounds during their career, which is not a sign of a sellout but more of an artisitic adventure. |

No, I don't consider her a sell out at all. She changes up her sound and look a bit for each of her last couple albums, in the spirit of many other creative artists. Like making each album era a cohesive theme (hmm, sounds familiar). Also, when has she not been conventionally "pretty"? If you will, so will I | |

at first, because I felt she was using the singers as props, and I have zero patience with that. Changed my stance and accepted it as genuinley good performance of 2 pretty cool tunes. On another note, I was like "why is Shelly Long the musical guest tonight"?

Gasve the new release a listen tonight. I liked it but it will take me a few more listens to decide how much. In either case, St. Vincent is so far from selling out that it just seems weird to be having that conversation. |
