Good ones: Duran Duran - A View To A Kill Tina Turner - Golden Eye Sam Smith - Writing's On the Wall Shirley Bassey - Goldfeeengaahhhh Sheryl Crow - Tomorrow Never Dies Gladys Knight - License To Kill Garbage - The World Is Not Enough
Carly Simon "Nobody Does It Better" is great as a Carly Simon song, but it feels weird as a 007 theme. Same with Rita Coolidge "All Time High" and a-ha's "The Living Daylights." It's good as their song, not a 007 song.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Nobody Does It Better is best, Sam Smith number two.
Really like Moonraker. Bono wrote Goldeneye.
What about the Alicia Skeez, tune? That is great.
Man With The Golden Gun. Obviously original theme. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Someone on youtube put KD Lang's Surrender over the opening title sequence of Tomorrow Never Dies and I think it's the better song and works more instead of the Sheryl Crowe song they went with. Crowe's sounds more like an end credits song.

I love that song. The intro is so "James Bond". Blondie was also consider for the main theme song (They have wrote and recorded "For your only" song) but they went with Sheena Easton instead

Its a strange thing with the Bond songs, I was never a big fan of the films at all, for some reason I just rarely watched any of them. But the theme for me always was special for some reason, because the films became almost known to have great themes, not always thats for sure but more than not. My favorites were always Duran and a-ha. The funny thing about the a-ha song was they were in the middle of a huge tour when the bond film opened and the producers wanted a-ha at the American Premiere and a-ha was in Japan and refused to cancel their shows and disturb the tour, so the USA scrapped promoting them at all, and went with a song by The Pretenders to promote, another reason a-ha's success in america faded quick, though around the world are huge as is that song, in some markets its their biggest most known track. The more ballad type Bond songs I always liked, Carly and Sheena but always felt they could have easily been "their songs". Live and Let die is another amazing one for sure, great production all around took it all into account that it was a "Movie theme". Many of the later ones are forgettable, this new one with Billie Elish is not good, bad choice all around. Early on people were requesting that Dua Lipa get the call to either be the theme or even in the film herself. A big miss for the Bond themes and a track that alot of people THINK is a Bond theme is "25" by the band the Pretty Reckless, this song easily could have been the current Bond theme and probably should have, very cinematic, great vocals by Taylor Momsen and great band, Eilish was not a good choice at all. I absolutely love Radiohead's Spectre song. The lyrics and melody have this haunting quality (pun intended) which really works. It was rejected for the more commercial Sam Smith song Writing's On The Wall. The Radiohead song is much more lowkey which is probably another reason it was rejected but it goes extremely well with the visuals of the opening title sequence. Someone on youtube synched the two. https://youtu.be/COP0XlYHvto
I think my problem with the Smith song is that it's too similar to Adele's Skyfall song which was the movie immediately before it. I actually think Roger Moore's era of songs had the most variety, something these new films are lacking music wise. [Edited 5/21/21 13:46pm]

I'm not a fan of the Billie Eilish tune either. Like Sam Smith they again went with a popular artist but the actual songs they create for the films are pretty mediocre. That's too bad about a- ha. I always wondered why they weren't bigger in America. They're definitely underrated and have a lot of great songs!

Yeah with a-ha they were playing so many places when they caught on which was immediate though Take on Me was released in the UK three times, they exploded and they marketed by Warner Brothers for their looks not the fact that they were three unique writers and talents, basically WB wanted them to be thier version of what Emi had with Duran Duran, and a-ha were always on a different path, so they didnt do the big radio interviews and play the game and that backfired in America but they never suffered elsewhere to be honest to this day. But as far as the Bond things they tend to go with the hot artist pretty much at the time, but at times the Hot artist just does not fit the mold or have a good song. I think Spectre from Radiohead is fantastic too. It was originally slated for the film but they went with Adele instead .
