Salt n Pepa Movie on Lifetime

It's on right now. Who's watching? Thoughts?

I’m sure I’ll get around to it someday, but prefer the real deal while they’re still alive

It seemed to be getting good responses on Twitter last night. The only other one that felt good was the TLC movie. The Whitney one was ...well, we know what that was, and the Toni Braxton one was decent but I have zero desire to watch it again.

Anywhere to watch it other than cable?

It's actually free to watch on the Lifetime app on your streaming device.

When I got home I looked it up on my tv list and there it was. I honestly hadn't expected that simple of a title. Welp, it scheduled to come on again Thursday no on demand available. I'll see it then.

I tuned in after hearing about it on here yesterday, so I didn't catch the start, but from what I watched, it was just okay to me. I didn't think the casting was good. I've seen some other Lifetime movies that had better casting. I loved the one about the Clark sisters. I thought that one was really good.

The last one of these I saw that I thought was done pretty well was the New Edition biopic.

I don't have cable but is it true that Spinderella was basically erased from Salt N Pepa history in the film? I heard that rumor.

I've still not watched it, but I wondered about that. It'd be a great disservice if they did that. And petty AF.

In the story, all I saw was Salt and Pepa, no mention of Spinderella. I didn't see the beginning, so I don't know if she was mentioned or not. I watched a good bit of the movie, and the main characters shown were Salt and Pepa, no Spinderalla.

I just went to Spinderella's Twitter and apparently she's mostly used in the movie as a background character. That Lifetime is using her likeness but wasn't consulted, but does shout out the actress playing her. Spin says she's writing a book though. I wonder if the original Spinderella was mentioned in the movie. I don't have cable, but I have no interest in it if Spin's not in.

No, Spinderella was in the movie, they introduced her, showed her traveling with them, going out with them, dancing with them. She wasn't erased from the movie, or from their history.

Here's the deal: things are never going to be played out in full. It's impossible to do. Even blockbusters like Ray or Walk The Line didn't cover everything. And a lot of these Lifetime type movie portray and boil down bigger pivotal moments in the person's career. So was stuff left out? No doubt. Stuff was left out of Whitney, Toni Braxtons, whoever. Things are gonna be left out of Wendy Williams shindig this weekend, too.

So whatever "quite a bit" is, it apparently didn't matter to Salt, Pepa, Queen Latifah, or anyone else who put this together.

A lot of pivotal stuff was left out, though, like most of these biopics. I still watch though.

I would like to throw in that even though this is the music section in the spirit of biopics I see Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has one coming out. I will be seeing.

Not neutral a stupid series.

Both girls were exec. prod. on the movie, and the dang thing was 3 hours or more. They had opportunity to put in what they thought was pivotal or at least important as part of their timeline. Sure, there are interesting parts to anyone's story we feel are worthy of airtime, but the girls told their story. I can run with it.

I finished the movie last night. It was good. I didn't know a lot of their pre-Push It history, so I was surprised to see Martin Lawrence, Kid, and Play at Sears with them. hahahaha That was a scream.

The gal playing Pepa should be tapped to play Tamar in the Braxton family movie.
