90s Prince albums from best to worse I'm going to let the original and younger generation of Prince fans do this one because I'm sure most of you know how I feel about his decline lol. This should be interesting though. [Edited 1/8/21 12:54pm]

The Gold Experience Graffiti Bridge Come The love symbol album Crystal Ball Emancipation Newpower Soul The Vault..old friends 4 sale Chaos and disorder Diamonds and pearls Rave un2 The Truth Think that's right.I think a few of those might rate equally to me.For example, I rate chaos & disorder and newpowersoul on the same level. Not sure one is better than the other. Emancipation could have been number 1 if it lost the fuller tracks. It rates this highly on my list only because of my self made track list and not as a whole release like Prince put it out.

Emancipation (his true 90s masterpiece) Come Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic (underrated around here) Love Symbol New Power Soul The Gold Experience Chaos & Disorder Crystal Ball (some amazing shit, some mediocre shit, a hodge podge which doesn't really gel together) The Truth Graffiti Bridge Diamonds & Pearls The Vault

For me the 1990s is the hardest decade of Prince to rank. This is the decade i became a prince fan.... around 1995/1996

They are impossible to rate for me. All of them are flawed. I like certain songs on almost all of these albums, but not these albums as a whole. The only one I really love is the Black album, but I find it hard to count that one as a nineties album. I can say likely Come and The Vault are the easiest to listen to as a whole, but on other nineties albums there are better individual songs. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

A 1990s list is too hard to make because, unlike the 1980s, the 1990s albums are impossible for me to listen in their entirety without skipping some tracks. Most of the albums had some really good tracks but then a shit hop sounding track would come on that would just totally ruin the mood of the album. In the beginning of the decade, the presence of a rapper in only a section of a normal sounding song was tolerable but then there would also be songs where the entire song sounded shit hoppish all the way down to the sound of the music behind the rapping which was totally intolerable and I would have to press the skip button. When the 2000s arrived, I got to where I couldn't even tolerate a rapper even in a portion of a normal sounding song, not just from Prince, but from anyone, because I saw it this way....hey, new decade now, time for a new sound.....just like every other previous decade. It's time for the 1990s and shit hop to become simply a bad memory of the past. . I would say that probably two of the top albums of that decade would be Symbol and Come. However, they still have their bad moments too. Crystal Ball had some of my favorite tracks of the decade such as "Cloreen Bacon Skin", "Crucial", "Sexual Suicide", etc. but the album as a whole was ruined by the presence of shit hop like "18 and Older", "Ripopgodazipper", "Poom Poom", and those absolutely horrible remixes of previously released songs such as "So Dark" which absolutely ruined a great song like "Dark". I got all excited when I heard about the release of The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale only to be very disappointed when it was released. All that jazz on there. That didn't sound like no 1980s tracks from the vault to me. They sounded like he re-recorded them for a different era like he had previously done with "Tick Tick Bang". . At the absolute bottom of my list would be Newpower Shit. Not only is that the worst album of the 1990s, but it is also one of the worst albums of his entire career. Other than "When You Love Somebody", almost the entire album is shit hop. When I first heard that album, the first thing I thought was... "Whatever rough trade that bitch has been fooling around with must have given him some damn good dick for him to sellout like this.".... Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic is the second worst album of the decade which is another album with the most sellout sounding tracks. . Everything else inbetween had some great tracks but also several skippable tracks so no, I don't think there are any great Prince albums of the 1990s. Decent, yes. Tolerable, yes. But only back then. I can't tolerate more stuff like some of the skippable tracks back then and try to expose myself to as little of it as possible these days. When it comes to music from all artists, not just Prince, unlike the general public, I put the 1990s to bed a long time ago and moved on, even if it meant having to go to previous decades and genres to get a completely different sound from the 1990s. . . . [Edited 1/10/21 7:49am] I would've pegged you as a Rave fan, considering moments like Everyday Is A Winding Road, Strange But True, Prettyman and the title track are all very funk/disco infused. The only hip-hop moments are Undisputed and Hot Wit U. And what Prince fan doesn't love I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore?

When the first track started, the self titled track, I absolutely love it and said this sounds like something off of Batman. Prince is back! Then it went downhill after that. Andy is a four letter word.

Oh my God, and talk about the biggest disappointment of the decade was the year 1999. This would have been the perfect time for him to finally release that follow-up album to "1999" that he said in "Rolling Stone" in 1985 that he had in the vault and could have released instead of "Around The World In A Day" and people would have loved it but he wanted to go in a different direction. The actual year, 1999, would have been perfect for that. Instead, we got a weak, re-recorded version of the song. Andy is a four letter word.

I like his side projects from that era much more than his albums: The Undertaker, The War, The Truth... Probably because he was just jamming and trying things and that feels much more natural than his albums, where he was trying way too hard to have a hit, to be a big badass rapper or turn them into concept albums. If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am.
