Talk about a disappointment. Michael was at the biggest point of his career at this time and they had hyped that album up so much prior to that release and then when we got it, most of the album was just blah. I agree that it sucked, I only like a small handful of songs from there and can name tons of 80s songs that are better than that crap

One More Chance was a good song though! But yeah I remember that era for Michael Jackson's career very very well and that isn't one of the few highlights of his career then that Victory album lol. But man the early 80s in general (80-84) was so fucking tough as a fan because we had Prince, Donna Summer, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye (Midnight Love), Sade. It felt like I was going so broke then. So many classic albums then

There's this new book that just came out a week or so ago called Can't Slow Down: How 1984 Became Pop's Blockbuster Year and while not exactly what I was praying for, am none the less grateful to finally have a book on the subject of '84 in music. It's worth a purchase and just in time for Christmas.
Anyway, I just finished reading a chapter in the book mostly dedicated to the Victory Tour and boy, if 2020 was a concert tour... it doesn't break much new ground on the subject but it dives deeper and nicely weaves it all together in showing how disastrous the whole thing was. Michael was against it from the jump and after reading, I understand why more than ever. That said, I like Victory. It certainly isn't good compared to the albums that came before but it's a fun listen. Not a single bad song present even though that brotherly unity was nowhere to be heard on the project. Michael didn’t really want to do that album or the tour.He was pressured to do it.The brothers needed the money.Notice that Michael was more interested in singing with Mick Jagger instead of one of his own brothers

I just assumed that bringing Mick Jagger in was part of Michael's contribution to the album since he had all those guest stars on "Thriller" and continued having them on all his albums that followed to the point of wearing that trend out. It got to the point that I was like "DAMN, can't you do anything by yourself anymore without bringing these damn people in!" Especially when the 1990s arrived and I couldn't stand the artists of the 1990s. . "State Of Shock" is the strongest thing on that album though. "Torture" and "Body" are OK but nothing great like "Triumph" or "Destiny". Andy is a four letter word.

Also love torture and one more chance, though I prefer Janet’s cover of that

Of course because the Jacksons albums contain more songs written and composed by MJ than in most of its solo albums. The ET album contains only one song. History 15.That s ludicrous.

[Edited 12/19/20 7:55am] It has been released. It got a Grammy. It even has a song on it. [Edited 12/19/20 8:20am] Ok, so where can I buy it, stream it, etc.? For your information, it has been released only one week or two, before being banned for legal issues.

I don’t consider any of MJ albums the “worst”. This is the order that I STILL listen to songs from each album:
Invincible Thriller Xscape Off The wall Dangerous HIStory BAD Blood On The Dancefloor Jackson Albums 100% because of Michael’s lead vocals: Triumph Destiny [Edited 12/20/20 6:20am]

Again, an album does not mean music. An album is a record, no matter what the content of the record is. These are albums:
You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

There's thousands of albums that you can't buy or stream, unless someone is selling a used copy. Haven't you heard of crate digging? They're out of print. I'm pretty sure you can't buy the first Gap Band album Magicians Holiday as a new release and it is not on any streaming sites. It's never even been on CD. The album is posted on Youtube though. A lot of people have posted rare obscure records on Youtube. Most of Jermaine Jackson's Motown albums have never been on CD either. "All those guest stars"??? What were you listening to? He had one big name duet each on 3 albums. Big whoop. As for the Victory hate... it has 8 songs and none of the songs is really a desaster. It's a good to great '80s pop album.

The Gap Band album has been out of print since 1974, almost 50 years ago. The majority of albums ever released are out of print. Even more so with records from the 78s era before the album existed. Especially the earlier ones which were recorded straight to the record disc. Recording tape had not been invented yet. Albums out of print are less likely to be on streaming sites. A lot of the masters to old albums are lost, either through being misplaced, destroyed in fires, tornadoes, or earthquakes. Or the tapes have deteriorated from old age or not being stored properly. Even if the tapes do exist, most records were never popular in the first place to get a reissue. There's labels like Numero and Light In The Attic who reissues some obscure albums.
