Because the MODERN Era Of Music Videos OFFICIALLY began in the 1970s. If You ALL 'Think/Believe/Feel' Differently of What is THE FIRST MODERN Video & When did the MODERN Period Of Video began? Music videos began in the 1920s and were called soundies. Then around the early 1960s, they were called scopitones. The Monkees TV show also had videos and Mike Nesmith is kinda behind the creation of MTV. The Monkees sitcom itself was probably the first to have the style of editing that MTV videos later became known for. You could even say early 1970s children's TV shows like Sesame Street & Electric Company had music videos. Movie musicals are sort of a series of videos with some talking parts between them. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton | |

Not so sure about this. A lot of artists in the 60's and 70's cut promotional music bits for TV broadcast. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Music videos didn't officially begin at any one time, it was a gradual thing.
