songs that sound similar all of these: You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I remember hearing an interview of Daryl Hall, he said that Billie Jean sounded just like ICGFT. He, John, I'll assume Quincy and company negotiated some percentage of the publishing and each walked away satisfied. I don't know who came first, Otis Redding or Lowell Fulson but Tramp is Tramp. Dokken ~ Alone Again Michael Jackson ~ Give In To Me The Jacksons ~ Shake Your Body (only the chorus, not the music)

The song Unbreakable feat. Biggie from Invincible sounds like Biggie's own song Unbelievable from Ready to Die . I don't know, maybe I gotta have my ears checked but Lavaux sounds like Shake your Body slowed down. And something in Life Can Be So Nice also sounds like Shake. Tears for Fears' Everybody wants to rule the world and The Way You Make Me Feel, which in turn somebody claimed it was a bite of Gavin Christopher's One Step Closer. The chorus of Prince's We Can Work it Out recalls the breakdown in the Jacksons Show You The Way To Go.

The BarKays Dance, Party, etc. sounds like a shameless rip-off of DMSR. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6s8D867U1Y " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

The BarKays "Your Place or Mine" has a lot of elements that sound reminiscent of Erotic City. And yes, their song Dirty Dancer sounds a lot like Billie Jean. They copied so many other songs...how did they get away with it? " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! I also recall Stacy Lattisaw released a single called "Million Dollar Babe" in 1983.It kinda resembles those songs, too. All of these tracks had to have been inspired by 60s Motown/Supremes songs.

Most reggaeton songs sound alike to me. It's like the same exact music with different people on each track. I'd say the same thing for Tejano. Tejano songs even end the same, the songs generally don't fade out like other records, they just end. I'm just number to it. People used to complain about rap being monotonous, but reggaeton makes rap sound like classical music. I too agree that there are some catchy songs here and there, but it's like drops of water in an ocean. I guess it sounds better to my ears when it's fused with other genres.

That´s because they all use the same Dem Bow riddim of Shabba Ranks from the early 90s.

Yes, it´s quite monotonous compared to other genres. Nice to see someone from Havana post here. I´ve never seen a Cuban on the org before. I stayed in Havana a decade ago. It was an interesting and unforgettable experience. I miss that time. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! They copied so many other songs...how did they get away with it? One name Allen Jones as in Barkays producer Allen Jones. His modus operandi was get his acts to make hits based off the current top 10. In Larry Dodson's book he said it often frustrated the band particularly James Alexander who felt Allen Jones hand was a little too heavy. Larry said the band agreed with James but was too chicken shit to go against Allen. The Barkays had their own sound when you listen to songs like Let's Have Some Fun, Holy Ghost,She Talks To Me With Her Body, Body Fever, Up In Here, etc but Allen for whatever weird reason wanted the band to create songs based off the top 10. If you look at other acts Allen Jones worked with in the 80's like Ebonee Webb had that Prince/Minneapolis flavor due to the lead singer's Prince like falsetto while Kwick(whom members of the Barkays wrote, played, and produced for)and Chocolate Milk had the Barkays sound. Thanks for the Allan Jones info. That explains some things. And even though I´m very familiar with the Minneapolis Sound, I had never heard of Obsession and their SOS Band rip-off. It really does sound very similar, and some elements of the song sound like they´ve been lifted straight from Just The Way You Like It and a couple of other SOS songs. It´s surprising that there are so many copycat songs without lawsuits, and yet there are so many other songs where people sued even though the similarities are vague at best. The music business is really complicated. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Prince´s Erotic City sounds a bit like Laid Back´s club hit White Horse. I wonder how they felt about Erotic City. I´ve read on the org that Prince and Laid Back met and liked each other and I think there was even a WB maxi single (promotional copy ?) with a Prince song on one side and a Laid Back song on the other. Personally, I never liked Laid Back . " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Gonna Get Over You peaked at number 8 R&B. They recorded a 2nd album which didn't generate as much success as their first album. The 3 girls in the group were sisters. Don't laugh at my funk

I just checked it out on Youtube and it really does sound like they´re using an interpolation of The Beautiful Ones. And in the comments section there are people argueing about the credits, and who wrote the song and who didn´t, and how the people involved in this project stole ideas from another....somebody even chimed in to claim that her uncle wrote the song. Interesting. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I wonder what the story is with these two songs."Mine All Mine" is one of my favorite 80s jams.I loved it back in 1986.Then years later, someone told me that it has the music from a previous song: Fatback Band's "I Found Lovin" ( a track from 1983 that I hadn't heard).I was shocked. It's the exact same music and groove!
