"Krush Groove" - Movie Appreciation(1985).

I was nine years old when the movie came out. Great cast: LL Cool J, Jam Master Jay, Sheila E, Bobby Brown, Kurtis Blow, Russell Simmons, Blair Underwood and more. Michael Schultz, Director.

How old were you when this movie came out?

It´s Krush Groove and Kurtis Blow, not Crush Groove , Curtis Blow. wink

It was a cult movie back in the day because movies with rappers were quite rare back then but in hindsight I find it a bit silly, especially the scene where Sheila starts rapping.

But I also miss that era a bit, the clothes, the jumpsuits, the music....good times.

As far as favorite scenes go, I don´t really have a favorite scene from this one, I was more into all those other HipHop movies such as WildStyle, Beatstreet and Breakin.

By the way, I once had a little argument with Kurtis Blow after a show because he was on stage with Grandmaster Flash and lipsynching to Melle Mel´s records. But people didn´t even notice. lol

Thanks KE! I will edit some words. That last time I saw the movie, I was 10 or 11. My friend's cousin had the VHS. I am a music fanatic so all movies that focuses on music is my favorite, comedy is my second favorite. I will get the DVD to add to my movie collection.

Great movie. The highlight might be the Fat Boys at Sbarro performing All You Can Eat.

I can't use the link because I have a pre-paid phone from TracFone. When I buy a android phone, I will have more data for internet access to be able to look at videos, YouTube, etc.

When I watched the movie back in the day, I was happy to see all the Hip Hop artists/musicians together! ⭐💿🎸🎤💿⭐🛀

😃 I have the "I Can't Live Without My Radio" album on cassette! I told my sister to order the "Crush Groove" DVD for me.

Lol, one of my co-workers, Nasima always says "No Problem". I have to call her this week. She is an air sign, I have a lot of air sign friends.

⭐💿🎸 I am a fan of Capricorn LL Cool J Too. He has Taurus Rising. Shout out to Queens!

There are some cheesy, really corny ones such as Breakin and Breakin part 2 (Electric Boogaloo) that have some nice live scenes with Ice-T at the LA Radiotroon, and Rappin (with Mario Van Peebles....terrible movie but nice scene with Ice-T performing Killers), and of course BeatStreet and Wildstyle. Another good film is Breaking and Entering, which showcases the early L.A HipHop scene. It is more of a documentary than a movie and can be regarded as a predecessor to the Breakin movie.....basically the same people, but in a documentary (Ice-T, Boogaaloo Shrimp etc. ).

Oh...documentaries are cool..it's real and a time-warp.

(I just saw the Jean-Claude van Damme scene in "Breakin"...phew...smile )

*Run on the phone ordering various colours of Adidas*
Sheila E.: Look, sneaker genius, we're over here trying to rehearse.
Run: Rehearse?
Sheila E.: Yes.
Run: Why don't you put a little RAP in there like my man D.M.C. then maybe you can get somewhere, know what I'm saying?
Sheila E.: Look, so what. Big deal, you can rap, but I bet you can't sing and dance.
Run: Who?
Sheila E.: You!
Run: Yo, she says I can't sing and dance. I'll show you sing and dance. Want to see me sing and dance?
Sheila E.: Yeah.
Run: Put that beat on; I'll show you sing and dance.
D.M.C.: Yo, don't forget to sing, man.
*Sheila E. starts the Linn Drum*
Run: Bust this. *RAPS*
You see I do not sing but I make a song/
You live your whole life and I hope you live long/
On The Gong Show I won't get gonged/
It's Run-D.M.C. not Cheech and Chong
Know what I'm saying?
ALL: lol lol lol

Of course Beastie Boys "Slow And Low" (1986) was ghostwritten by Run-D.M.C. and contained a similar passage.
I do not sing but I make a Def song
You could live your whole life and I hope you live long

On The Gong Show we won't get gonged
We're the Beastie Boys not Cheech and Chong

Run: Now let's see YOU rap.
Sheila E.: Anybody can rap.
Run: Go ahead then.
Sheila E.: Alright, I'll give you something. Benny, give me one of them sleazy sounds, ahh! sexy
Benny: Alright. *plays "Holly Rock" electric piano chords*
Sheila E.: Lawd. Good gawd, wait! Everybody stop on the one, yeah.
*beat stops*
Sheila E.: Gimme two, yeah.
*Two keyboard stabs*
Sheila E.: Good gawd, good gawd.
*Beat and chords resume*
Sheila E.: Oh, it's greasy, ahh! Wait! *bent over like James Brown* Oh! It's too funky today, I can't! Ahh! Wait! *hands Run a drum stick* Here, maybe this will make you feel better. Check this out, ahh! Wait. I've got it. *RAPS AND BREAKDANCES*
I can sing, rap, dance in a dress or pants
I can rock your whole world if you give me a chance
I'm Sheila E. and my R.A.P.
is the best damn rap there could ever be
I've got a mass appeal, a little girl's smile
I make you happy, baby, all the while
'Cause I'm bad, good God
And if you a big enough stick, uh
Then come here Run, this is my house
Don't you wanna learn a new trick?
*slams drum stick on the floor*
YOU BIG KOALA BEAN HEAD!
ALL: lol lol lol

I am still waiting for the "Krush Groove" Movie DVD that my sister ordered for me! When I watch the movie again, then I will give my review! From what I remember, me and my friends from Prospect Ave, loved watching that movie. And LL Cool J is one of my favorite Legendary Hip Hop Artists! "Word is Bond".

"Hip..Hop.. Hip..Hop.. Hip..Hop" -(Cancerian)Lil Kim, Brooklyn.

"Put Your Lighters Up". 😃⭐✨⚡🎉💿🎸💿⭐✨⭐✨⚡
