THAT AIN'T NO LETOYA mad

Sure it is. Her name is LeToya Luckett. There is no other LeToya that people would know. Dionne Warwick knows who she is because Dionne picked LeToya to star in her biopic.

I was reading an article [via the UK Guardian News paper ] about how the Bakersfield country music scene /sounds has gone AWOL for a minute. The first person I thought of was to asking about all of this was, Mickey, his opinion / thoughts on this subject.

What do you mean? Like on the radio? If so, then that's been out of style on mainstream country radio. It's mostly "Bro Country" that's popular now. Some of it has trap beats and ever since that Nelly & Tim McGraw duet became a big hit, it's been somewhat common for contemporary country acts to have rap collabs. Even a veteran like Willie Nelson did some songs with Snoop Dogg. But I guess you might know the connection with those 2. razz Willie has not always been strictly country anyway, he's released jazz records in the past and had a hit single with Julio Iglesias.

Radio is not in any of my conversation about music well, at least not for me. lol I knew you are a listeners of CW or music. You always hear from mainstream media talk about who's in and what's out... without any consideration of the talent that's out there. I never believed just because your aren't on radio/ TV..... talent doesn't exist, not recording, or performing. My train of thought wasn't about veteran attempting to stay relative.

Well then no music style really ever goes away. Someone continues to perform it, whether the mainstream masses are into it or not. People still make polka records and that has never had mainstream popularity. The closest to mainstream success is some of the songs on Weird Al records. He always has at least one polka song on his albums. On one album Weird Al had a zydeco type song. I kinda consider zydeco "black polka" and Tejano "Mexican polka". lol Gospel songs have rarely become pop hits. There's other artists who record the middle ages style music that is performed at Renaissance Faires. Even Sting released an album like this awhile back. Other than maybe smooth jazz like Kenny G or later George Benson, jazz fell out of mainstream favor after big band in the 1930s or 1940s. But people still perform it. There's an audience that goes to see opera singers. There's many tribute bands & singers who perform the music of a specific act like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin, etc or a particular genre like disco or big band swing jazz. There's a band called Postmodern Jukebox who perform modern hits in a big band style. There's another band called Beatallica, who perform Beatle songs as if Metallica did them. Dread Zeppelin is like Led Zeppelin with Elvis Presley as the lead singer performing in a reggae style. Lez Zeppelin is an all women tribute band who does Led Zeppelin. The Musical Box does Peter Gabriel era Genesis songs. Both Phil Collins & Steve Hackett has performed at a show with The Musical Box.

That's your opinion. Everything I mentioned has an audience that buys their albums or goes to their concerts. They wouldn't exist if there wasn't an audience for them. For fans of prog era Genesis, The Musical Box is the closest thing they're going to get to seeing them live since Peter Gabriel has always turned down Genesis reunions. It probably won't happen now anyway since Phil Collins can't drum anymore. PBS has shown entire concerts from Beatles & Pink Floyd tribute bands. Renassaisance Faires are popular too. There's an audience for death metal with growling singers and also new age, techno, traditional cultural music, and so on.

I think he recorded this several times, but the most known version is the one from the 1970s
