How many people want to move away from Youtube?

The default-autoplay has made me wanna SCREAM at someone, or them, for a LONG time - and the "suggestions" that pop up on TOP of the video at the end are the WORST. Who else wants to move away from them??

On television Youtube I always hit the "back" or "stop" button whenever I can after viewing on a subscription page or a video collection. The "next" video popups do truly wreck the viewing experience. They might be able to drop those down to the screen margins, but I imagine they won't. Of course, a change from Youtube would be nice--service competition is cool!

I'm getting ready to move away from youtubeTV after two price hikes in a year! Started out at $34.99 now its up to $65 a month! They just raised it another $15 so we can have the pleasure of watching those horrible reality series and old movies on MTV, VH1 and BET. confused

Never paid for it and rarely watch it.

Rather than "screaming at someone for a long time" why don't you just turn the autoplay feature off?

As for the "suggestions" that pop up over the video, they are mostly added by the uploader of the video. And I agree, they are a pain in the arse. I'll be looking at a movie trailer and the last 10 seconds of it are hidden behind pop ups of other videos I'm not interested in. But that's the fault of the person or company who uploaded the video. Not YouTube themselves.

Oh for....God's sake....on my BRAVE web browser, I've turned on the "forget cookies" thing - so every time on browser startup, it forgets and turn to Youtube's default of having autplay ON, and I have to explicitly *remember* to turn it off. Which of course, I don't when I'm thinking of a new video....

Pain in the motherfucking butt.

Everybody - download BRAVE www.brave.com and TURN YOUR COOKIES OFF! It's probably the best browser there is!

I meant the ones RIGHT at the end, when the video has ended. And YT LET people PUT popups on the vids in the 1st place!

I discovered these new platforms, from what I understand they're "blockchained", and I'm just starting to figure out what that means. For the time being, I can't say I heartily recommend them, but I CAN heartily recommend you check them out! :

There might be even more!

All of this really sounds like a "you" problem. YOU are the one choosing to turn cookies off and YOU are the one forgetting to turn autoplay off on YouTube. Maybe you should be screaming at yourself for a long time instead 😂

You can. Get an Android

I'm kidding. Besides, GPM is on borrowed time anyway. Some time this year Google is shutting it down in favor of YouTube Music which is nowhere near as interactive or user-friendly as GPM is. I had to download my entire library to my computer so when I find a good alternative to GPM I can put it all on.

Still searching though.

Google Play Music. Google is getting rid of it in fa or of the vastly inferior YouTube Music.

I downloaded my library of almost 5000 (purchased and uploaded) songs from GPM to my computer to avoid losing it all when Google eventually abolishes GPM later this year.

The company (Google) is promoting YouTube Music as their preferred music streaming platform and are prompting people to port their GPM libraries over to YTM. I did so and that's when I decided to download my library to my computer after seeing how deficient YTM is (unable to edit playlists beyond adding songs to make them, unable to edit metadata (song/album info such as year of release, genre, composers and artists) and unable to replace artwork among other things like being able to download your library to another device, all which GPM allowed) in the Hope's of finding a good alternative to GPM to play my music.

Strive

Do you need to access it on a smart speaker or outside of your home?

If you don't, the easiest thing to do would be to set up your own server. SMB is still king. You could get a Raspberry Pi, plug it into your router, set up a music share then access that share with a program like Kodi. Then mirror the set up to any of your devices and access it anywhere on your home network.

Or if that is too complicated, you can get a cheap Windows PC and put something like Plex on it. https://www.plex.tv/your-media/music/

The devices in which I listen to music are fine. It's about the streaming platform.

Yes, if you set up your own server, you would be able to access your media on whatever device you wanted.

Or if you set up Plex, you could access on any device that can download the Plex app.

It's basically making your own personal GPM.

I'm one of those super-rare kind who don't hardly play music on my phone. I play DJ with my sansa player without any multiple devices to juggle, & I can only listen or juggle so many songs. So it is really sweet simplicity for me!

If it's a battery that went dead you can learn how to change it on Youtube and buy a new one on the internet...
