Yes, if you set up your own server, you would be able to access your media on whatever device you wanted.
Or if you set up Plex, you could access on any device that can download the Plex app.
It's basically making your own personal GPM.

Yes. I figured I'll give Plex a try when I get some money rolling in. I'm out of work right now and am still waiting for my unemployment so I got strict budget in place. |

You don't need Plex Pass for music streaming. You can try installing it on your computer for free and pointing it towards your local music folder.
Most people don't leave their computer on 24/7 and rather get a device that is most power efficient to run as a full time Plex server.

Since YT runs commercial ever "10 seconds", not much. I use the Tube when I need a project review or need instructions on how to fix something. These days my viewing are far and few between.
I'm a Kodi user and I have access to my movie collection and music anywere in US or world.
