Yes, if you set up your own server, you would be able to access your media on whatever device you wanted.

Or if you set up Plex, you could access on any device that can download the Plex app.

It's basically making your own personal GPM.

Really? How much is it though?

I guess I'm the only one who still listens to music on Ipods... lol grandpa

I did until my iPod stopped working. So I've gone back to CDs.

If it's a battery that went dead you can learn how to change it on Youtube and buy a new one on the internet...

Not a bad idea. Might give it a try.

Do you need to access it on a smart speaker or outside of your home?

If you don't, the easiest thing to do would be to set up your own server. SMB is still king. You could get a Raspberry Pi, plug it into your router, set up a music share then access that share with a program like Kodi. Then mirror the set up to any of your devices and access it anywhere on your home network.

Or if that is too complicated, you can get a cheap Windows PC and put something like Plex on it. https://www.plex.tv/your-media/music/

You went one step beyond any advice I was gonna give! smile Awesome.

Yes. I figured I'll give Plex a try when I get some money rolling in. I'm out of work right now and am still waiting for my unemployment so I got strict budget in place.

You don't need Plex Pass for music streaming. You can try installing it on your computer for free and pointing it towards your local music folder.

Most people don't leave their computer on 24/7 and rather get a device that is most power efficient to run as a full time Plex server.

But you can play around with it and see if it fits your needs.

Since YT runs commercial ever "10 seconds", not much. I use the Tube when I need a project review or need instructions on how to fix something. These days my viewing are far and few between.

I'm a Kodi user and I have access to my movie collection and music anywere in US or world.

The new features suck. It was great as it was a few years ago... all the selection, none of the intrusive BS. Both auto play and the picture in picture on desktop browsers piss me off.

The default-autoplay has made me wanna SCREAM at someone, or them, for a LONG time - and the "suggestions" that pop up on TOP of the video at the end are the WORST. Who else wants to move away from them??

Turn autoplay off, easy fix. shrug
