Mavis Staples' 80th Birthday Celebration
Happy 80th birthday to Mavis Staplesborn July 10th!    
Mavis Staples, Jason Isbell, Brandi Carlile and More to Participate in ‘Mavis 80’ Celebration Livestream
On July 31, FANS will broadcast ‘Mavis 80, A Newport Folk Revival,’ a livestream event to celebrate the legendary Mavis Staples’ 80th birthday. Proceeds from the livestream will go to support the Newport Festival Foundation’s educational initiatives that celebrate innovation while preserving the deep traditions inherent in Jazz and Folk music.

In addition to Staples herself, the livestream will feature a star-studded group of artists including Jason Isbell, Brandi Carlile, Trombone Shorty, Grace Potter, Phoebe Bridgers, Lucius, M. Ward, Joe Henry and more.

In addition, Ben Harper will be performing during the stream; Harper produced and wrote on Staples latest album, We Get By.

She's actually 81 this year and it would make sense that this concert did not occur during the pandemic. |
