There really wouldn't be a Britney Spears without Janet Jackson (and Madonna), and I suppose its the former's own handlers fault for letting other things overshadow whatever talents she had, but I thought this was still worth putting on display:

Janet didn't even do it in that clip. She was picked up and twirled by the backing dancer. You can't compare back handsprings when only one of them actually did it. Tut Tut.


I was originally going to post that I used to be able to do a back-handspring but after herniating a disc in my back a few years ago, I haven't even tried it since. But out of curiosity, I've tried it now and I can still do it. So Go Me! 30 years old but I've still got it.

Of course, another way of looking at that is "30 years old and I'm still dumb enough to attempt a back handspring in my kitchen with no warm-up". But oh well...
