Yeah, same. Some subsequent albums were better.

I loved all of the singles. BUt did not connect with the album as a whole like I did with “Emotions”.

Vision of Love is probably one of the best slam dunk debut singles ever. Even though I thought the album was great at the time I probably haven't listened to it since '91. She (or Tommy Mottola) did well to keep it moving throughout the '90s. Emotions, then Unplugged, Music Box, Christmas album, Daydream and they all had hits on them.

Also really love the singles off emotions. Can’t let go is one of her best ballads ever and should have been number one

"Cant Let Go" is my #2 favorite Mimi song right behind "The Wind".

This was a fantastic debut album. I still can't believe she had a whole 4 #1s just from her first album. Vision of Love is one of the best debut songs ever IMO. This album is one of my favorite debuts from any artist.

Can't Let Go should have been number one, deserved it.

What a beautiful song, it's very sad. And how underrated is, well more than underrated it's an unsung hero.

I remember my oldest sister bringing home the cassette to reveal on the family stereo. Talk about things that just don't happen anymore!

Yeah totally. They pulled the single last minute so more people would buy the album

Ah, the era when I thought she was attractive. An 'unknown' becoming known. A new voice. A fresh face. Some really strong songs on this one, mixed in with some filler.

Aw you’re missing out! You should definitely check out her other albums, or at least start with her greatest hits collection

But "Cant Let Go" still managed to peak at #2 on both the Billboard R&B and Top 100 Singles charts. And I believe it topped the AC Singles chart, which is nothing to balk at. biggrin

Still good but if she went to number one on the hot 100, she would have had a record of her first six singles going to number one and would have had 20 number ones today

Respect to this album. Anyone remember her going to church during "Visions Of Love" on Apollo? Talk about hitting notes...

She should have made a gospel album back in the early 90's or a house album in the line of some of her remixes.

You would actually love her double disc called The Remixes. Disc One is her *best* house mixes which she always re-recorded her vocals for, and when she does a dance version on stage, it is these arrangements. Disc Two has her more famously played shit-hop mixes.
