As much as I love Biggie -- and I think he'll get in -- there's a backlog of worthy nominees. So I'd vote: MC5 Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016
Props will be withheld until the showing and proving has commenced. -- Aaron McGruder

Talk about boring .
I'd like to see Chaka get in, but not too interested in the others. I do like Whitney though. [Edited 10/15/19 9:57am]

Todd Rundgren was a boss back in the day...multi-instrumentalist, producer, visionary. I am surprised he has not been inducted already.

I would like to know why George Michael has not been nominated.

As much as I love Depeche Mode, never should be in before Duran Duran, since as far as influence, you pretty much can say DD made music videos an art form, gave MTV life, which in turn gave ALOT of 80's artists second lives, new lives and a LIFE. Outside of that Pat Benatar should have been in a LONG time ago and definitely before Stevie Nicks went in a second time this time as a solo artist which her output is very sketchy. Benatar is cited by lots of females in ROCK for helping paving a commercial way, till this point every female had to be Joan Baez or Judy Collins. Soundgarden to be honest i like them always did, and YES they opened the door for anything that came after which was Nirvana and Pearl Jam so they are grandfathered in. BIGGIE first ballot? that is a shock to me, while great, he is another that we will never know what was to come. Very suprised FOO FIGHTERS are not on this because 94 was the debut and they are a shoe in because Grohl is loved by everyone in media, the music world thinks he is the only one in Rock. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Sorry, but I'm down with Biggie for the Hip Hop Hall of Fame, not Rock and Roll. Otherwise, I'm down with Whitney, Pat B., Doobies, and Rufus.

No way should Whitney get in before Chaka. But then this list of nominees is all over the place so who knows who will make the final cut.

I think LL Cool J or Eric B & Rakim should get in before Biggie Smalls. LL was nominated last year but didn't make it. If they're going for the 1990s, then OutKast. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Alot of 'politics' involved.

Yes, unfortunately, you're correct about that. The R&RHOF has lost it's importance for me. Once they let in Kiss, I was out. At this point, I couldn't care less who gets in anymore as it doesn't really mean anything like it used to.

It never meant anything. The Hall is just a museum started by Rolling Stone magazine. So is mostly who the founders and/or writers of RS pick, which is in general boomer era acts like Paul Butterfield Blues Band. There is no particular criteria other than being eligible 25 years after an acts 1st album. Jann Wenner himself was inducted, but no one from competing rock mags like Creem or Hit Parader has been nominated. So that should tell you what it's about. Pock n roll was originally about rebellion and being put into a museum is not that. Also it seems to me at least some of the inductees chosen each year seem to have to be popular enough to get viewers to watch the HBO broadcast. There tends to be at least one band with feuding members and so people want to see who shows up or not. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

LL will get in, as will Nas, Jay-Z and OutKast. Salt n Pepa, Wu Tang and Tribe are also possible. Maybe Snoop. I don't see anyone else getting in in the Hip-Hop feom the Golden Age of Hip-Hop. Prince was inducted the first year he was eligible, as I recall. That really is something. I think even he was surprised.
