Is the "VEVO" playlist a good idea?

I recently came across something called a "VEVO playlist" on Youtube. Tried it, (the pop one), found quite a few great songs! So - should I try this thing more and more from now on? What I'm asking is, who are these guys - VEVO, and should I put them in charge of what I listen to? Are there others?

They just license videos for labels, so their playlists will be predicated on which labels they do business with.
