It's good that there's a new song on the way. I just wish it wasn't associated with a shit movie.

I knew someone was going to say that, lol.

No, I haven't seen it. Not all of it, anyway. But based on what I've seen, and the director, and the main cast, it's a safe assumption that the movie, as a whole, will be crap.

But aside from that, I know several people who have worked on the movie, including two of the cast, and even they said that it's not up to much. Now, admittedly, I don't think they have seen the full movie yet either, but at least one of them has seen the full screenplay so if you add up all of the above, it's not exactly a recipe for success, is it?

Truly inspiring to see that the estates of other dead 80s popstars have their dick in their hands just as much as Prince's does.

A certain kind of mellow.

I'm not so sure.

When I look at the package GM's camp put together for the deluxe reissue of LWP Vol I as opposed to what they did with Purple Rain I see a camp that has somewhat of a vision.

From what I understand, George spearheaded the Listen Without Prejudice reissue when he was alive, along with the documentary that was released to accompany it.

I think more than anything though it'd be nice to see some live shows get released. The Faith Tour, the last Wham! concert at Wembley and his 1991 tour would all be excellent releases.
A certain kind of mellow.

Oh yeah you're right.

Wasn't Prince in the same position though?

Weren't they discussing, and discussing, and discussing the PR release when he was alive?

Ever so unfocused, he let yet another opportunity, which could've been special and an event, slip through his fingers.

It's pretty well know that is true, you're right. The doc has his voice on it, so yes, he was fully involved. I may be wrong, but didn't the doc talk about his death and how he was still working on it or excited to see it all come out? I'd be quite interested to have seen a similar set for Older. So much happened in his life between those two records.

He had such a weird quirk about releasing live shows in full. Even Symphonica was chopped and edited on audio and video releases. He noted that the Live In London DVD (which I still can't get enough of) would be the only show he releases in its entirety. I'm pretty surprised that The Faith Tour was never put out back then, since it was sort of a new genre of putting concerts out on VHS once people realized there was a larger market for it.

I may have to watch Live in London again, now that I've brought it up. That opening of "Fastlove" is just everything. Plus "Fantasy", "A Different Corner", "Jesus To A Child", God, so much good stuff. I do wish he'd 'done "Star People '97" or "The Edge of Heaven" (especially the former).

The real gem that we'll probably never get is those sessions where Wendy Melvoin showed up to help out one time (when George and Anselmo were still dating), and the finished songs. (I forget the name of the thing off hand.)

Even if there's not video, expanded albums or maybe something like Originals (just outtakes that didn't make it anywhere) would be great, just to have new GM music in the world again.

The documentary he did when Patience was released and he toured America for the last time (I believe it was called "A Different Story") was really good. It was pretty comprehensive and went over Older a bit. I probably prefer it to the new one actually.

And yeah, the Live in London concert was pretty good. I caught that tour in Philly and the DVD was very representative of what it was like. Would be nice to see some concerts from when George was in his prime though. The bootlegs I've heard of the Faith Tour are really good, and a bunch of them were recorded on film (some of that footage shows up in the LWP documentary).

As for the Trojan Souls project, I don't think there's much there. I think it was sort of a stop gap thing until he got his label situation sorted out. Seems like it's mainly just unfinished demos, or at least that's what David Austin alluded to. Seems like he's reluctant to release much of anything... maybe that's changing though.
A certain kind of mellow.

I have a grater appreciation for GM since he died... His voice was probably one the best in the history of music.

T Mobile is using GM's Freedom on their commercial. I think his Estate is doing a great job of getting things out to the fans.

Wendy Melvoin's instrumental with George from the sessions is out there. It's nameless, at least on my boot its just called Wendy Melvoin Instrumental

The deluxe was nothing more than already released remixes. Beside that they released a remix of Fantasy. Thats all we got! No demos, nothing. I think the prince estate is doing much better.

You'd be surprised how often stuff like that happens. I mean, if a movie is bad, the people who are working on it or even the people in it will know that it's not turning out well. Sometimes you have to be honest with yourself and recognise that it's just not good. Luckily for them, the director is probably used to people slating his movies by now, lol.

WHAM!, George Michael, and Me by Andrew Ridgeley
release date: October 8, 2019

For the first time, Andrew Ridgeley—one half of one of the most famous bands in the world—tells the inside story of Wham!, his lifelong friendship with George Michael, and the formation of a band that changed the shape of the music scene in the early eighties.

In 1975 Andrew took a shy new boy at school under his wing. They instantly hit it off, and their boyhood escapades at Bushy Meads School built a bond that was never broken. The duo found themselves riding an astonishing roller coaster of success, taking them all over the world. They made and broke iconic records, they were treated like gods, but they stayed true to their friendship and ultimately to themselves. It was a party that seemed as if it would never end. And then it did, in front of tens of thousands of tearful fans at Wembley Stadium in 1986.

Andrew’s memoir covers in wonderful detail those years, up until that last iconic concert: the scrapes, the laughs, the relationships, the good, and the bad. It’s a unique and one-and-only time to remember that era, that band, and those boys.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

The soundtrack will only include one new song entitled: This Is How (We Want You To Get High). Per billboard article but can’t post the link at the moment.
